Hope you feel better soon!

Long story, kinda. I've got the Monitor 3s connected to the Zone 2 output of my AVR. The AVR can amp them and use the input of any of the sources. The problem is that it will NOT amp audio from a digital source, the input has to be analog. Up until now, the audio from the HTPC to the AVR has been optical (with an HDMI running directly to the tv - no more HDMI inputs on the AVR). So I connected a mini-to-RCA converter to the front speaker output (analog) on the PC and ran it to the corresponding input on the AVR. No audio. So I tried unplugging the optical cable and still had no audio. Once I got this far, I realized I was not getting digital and analog audio out of the HTPC simultaneously (Linux can be a pain sometimes). Finally realized the audio drivers were a bit old, so I updated them. In doing so, I completely busted the stock audio mixer on the HTPC (it wont load because it is older than the drivers and doesn't recognize them) and I now have no audio output whatsoever - digital or analog. I now need to try installing the updated mixer which may require compiling my own kernel (and I've never done that before). This may very well lead to many hours of tinkering. OR, I might just try to upgrade to the latest version of Ubuntu (which was released yesterday) and see if that works any better.
For reference, my desktop PC is not outputting digital and analog audio simultaneously either (it's only connected analog right now, but it's pretty easy to tell visually if the optical is running).
Anyway, the temporary workaround is to connect my netbook to the audio input on the AVR and stream audio over the network to it. So I was able to get tunes rocking in the bedroom, but the setup is far from perfect at this point. Also, the 3s are sitting in the corners of my bedroom and seem a bit boomy due to corner loading. May need to tweak that a bit as well.
I hope all that made sense to you, Lou. Lulz.
