So drinks went well?

the head is my worry... but i figure a good shop (and i know of one) could make it work... i want a 6.5-7k redline... and at least 350 torque... 380 is more desirable with 400 being the ultimate goal... power... could almost care less as torque is more importantRazi wrote:So far, all the budget oriented builds I've seen done, cost around $2.5k. Mine included, but I bought a brand new turbo so that bumped it up to $3k.
Once you start putting in upgraded internals, with machine shop costs, expect costs to go up about another $1k.
How much power are you looking to make? The stock internals can take about 300ft/lbs of torque, from then on the rods start bending.
I'm not all the sure on building KA-E heads though, I've never looking into that.
Want me to delve deeper into anything else? I only just layed down some basic ish I'd tell other people when we're at meets or w/e.
Oh I wrapped that one up last night.nissangirl74 wrote:![]()

Yeah, I've rarely seen a KA-E rev that high, maybe it's because nobody tried.PEZi720 wrote: the head is my worry... but i figure a good shop (and i know of one) could make it work... i want a 6.5-7k redline... and at least 350 torque... 380 is more desirable with 400 being the ultimate goal... power... could almost care less as torque is more important
i know the DE revs higher... i'm not opposed to the DE... is the 400 torque still easy to achieve? the 400 torque is the main goal.... i figured it'd be easier to hit with an E vs. DE... but if the DE can still hit 400 easy i might just to that.... i need the 7ish K redline in order to hit the proper speed at the top of 2nd gear... either that or use the lower revving E and find a diff that works to make up for the redlineRazi wrote: Yeah, I've rarely seen a KA-E rev that high, maybe it's because nobody tried.
400 torque is achievable easily, you just need to build the engine well and get a proper tune.
If it's E85 that'll be easy peasy.
The KA loooves the T3 turbos, JGS makes a topmount cast iron manifold for both the DE and E, real quality stuff.
You can buy the kit that doesn't come with the turbo and source a used one yourself to save some bucks.
Top feed injectors are plentiful, I think you can get some RX-7 injectors for cheap (I believe they are topfeed) and I think Subies have topfeeds as well.
Mostly for the KA, as long as the internals are done right and the tune is good, you can cheap out elsewhere and it's all groovy.

that's not my worry... the truck is a project... the suspension will cost more than the engine buildAZhitman wrote:Making a 400-hp KA is gonna cost you more than the truck. I'd know.
Skip boost, get big NA power.

yeap... this is the class i will get thrown into with the swapRazi wrote:PEZi720 wrote:(meaning a big a** splitter and rear wing)![]()
Your truck is gonna look epic.

i can actually do that now... all that it says is you need a trans that has forward AND reverse gearsBwana wrote:Will moving up a class allow you to run a better trans? A good close ratio trans will do more for you than 100 hp on short technical courses.
