Leaking exhaust manifold (gasket?)

I used seafoam a few weeks back and as some of you may know it causes your exhaust gases to smoke up pretty good. Well, those same exhaust gases that should have been coming from my tail pipe also came from my engine bay. I believe I saw it come from the passenger side near the fuel filter, which I gather, is where one of the exhaust manifolds is. I will have to put my mask on and do the test again to confirm where the smoke is coming from, but does the exhaust manifold sound about right? If I have to replace a gasket is this something I can do myself without taking the engine out?
