i bought kybs about 3 months ago and planned on waiting till spring to put on. looking for advice is it worth it or should i just buy coilovers. just looking for personal opinions. i mean i could sell becouse they have never been used and just buy coils but are they worth it? my plans are strictly drift.

What springs do you plan to use?

Most kids will tell you coils are a must, but thats just amateurs talking. You can slide a car on stock suspension, it just takes a little more skill.

I am curious to hear about these. I just picked up some AGX's with Eibach springs. Info and opinions greatly appreciated.

for a street car the agx are perfect for most people, but if your intention is a track car...I would have to say coil are almost a must...just my 2 cents

I rocked that setup using custom eibachs for 2 years on my S14. They were great till the struts blew due to my abuse. The car was plenty fun to drive, though I was unhappy with how little travel is afforded using a factory length strut body. Even an inch below stock height, and I felt limited due to the lack of travel.

I have GR2s with Stock springs on my S13. I think with some nice sway bars I would be very pleased with the handling. There is a lot to be said about having proper suspension geometry.

I've had AGX's on my S13 for almost a year, I think they're great. You can set them up soft for the city streets and stiff for the track. What I don't like is the springs I matched them up to(Tein S Techs), they are too soft. I wish I would have gone with stiffer springs.

That doesnt really work, I had very stiff springs on mine, too stiff really. I think that is what contributed to their end. The twin tube design was never meant to handle really high spring rates.

i'm picking up kyb agx's all the way around with RSR springs

hoping they're good. I know rsr springs are pretty stiff and with adjustable stiffness on the shocks I should be golden

my set up was planned as megans and agxs but i currently have tein on stock struts. i bought those becouse the toolbox before me had stock struts with non fitting sleeve overs on it and threw away the top perch and blew the plug welds. So i had to buy that setup of ebay. So the way it sounds agxs are worth the buck.

AGx's + whatever springs are a good setup if you love wheel gap. J/K

I've been rocking AGX's + S Tech's for 3 years now and they are tough as nails. The feel is stiff and they help in the handling department quite a bit. However, do not get these if you don't want about 2.5 to 3 inches of wheel gap.

I had them for a few months on my S14. Never liked them. 1 Blew on a 6 mile test drive, defective from factory. Got a new one under warranty. Rode on S-Techs for a while and wasnt happy with the drop. Went to iX Intrax and loved those springs. The complaining from passengers about stiffness got annoying. When I swapped springs, I had the rears set wrong, one at 1, and one at 8 when I installed them and didnt realize it. Blew a rear within 20 miles. Understandable though. Bought a new rear for $150. Sold them with the Tiens recently and ordered coilovers.

New owner called me yesterday and said that one rear blew, and he somehow damaged a front strut or mount. I am getting him my warranty papers, but I dont see much he can do. He keeps taking them apart and re-assembling them, which might be a factor... He is using them on his daily/winter beater, anyone have any bad experiences in the cold with these?

Either way, with the money I spent in the end, I should have just gone coilovers. They were good for the time being though.

that sucks. mine are still running great. it's kind a loud when it's cold when going over bumps. you know that squishy valving sound.

don't get me wrong I had coilovers on my previous car and loved them to death. they were koni yellow with ground control coils. just hated the idea of fine tuning them. this is why i opted for shocks and springs and later on with a rear ant-roll bar. also, planning to change out all of my bushing as well.
