Any thoughts on lambo doors for a Q45? For some odd reason, I think that they'd look quite stylish on my 92 Q. Someone told me to shave the door handles on my rear doors to heighten the effect. But I'm wary of doing that, mainly because I hate the idea of the remote door opener.

Any thoughts guys? Has anyone seen that before? Should I just do 2 doors? Or all 4?

No offense, but most on NICO (and in the Q45 sub-forum) are not fans of "Lambo-style" doors.

Most will comment on where better to spend (maint or performance) that kind of coin.

Not to be too critical, but aren't the condition and type of guides unknown on your Q?

I'm a fan of lambo doors if you have a car that has long doors (prob not a 4 door if that's the case) and you also commonly park in areas where it's difficult to open the door far enough to get in and out of the car. So if you're in Europe and have long doors, I think it'd be a good mod.

this is all hypothetical. I go on Spring Break on Thursday, so I'll have my mechanic check my guides.

I'd rather see that guys lambo door from the side. From the back it didn't look too nice. But my Q looks just like his, minus the fire breathing mufflers.

Given that I'm restoring my 94 to as close to oem pristine condition, in my opinion, what one does to their car is a matter of expression and personal taste. I'm a purist with my Q and love it as understated as possible, however if mods are done well and effectively, I truly appreciate them for their workmanship at the very least. I couldn't imagine lambo doors on my Q, but not for the "like em or don't like em" factor, but simply due to the fact that structural integrity is being compromised in my opinion. The weight of the door applying torque on mounting points that were never intended to be there in the first place will place undue stress/strain on the frame, in addition to the inevitable rattles and sealing problems associated with aftermarket Lambo door installs. However, once again, if installed with forethought to prevent what I just mentioned above, rock on. Now in reference to the fishtanks in that dude's Q, ....I guess scheduled maintenance on his Q includes preventing a dead fish smell as well.

That is the ugliest Q I have ever seen in my life.

He actually was on NICO for about an hour or so last year, maybe it was in 05??

He was very upset that most here didn't care for his car, as he's very proud of it.

Needless to say, things went bad quickly .

Not sure I would call it "riced out"...

It looks more like a Batmobile reject!

Technically, those aren't "Lambo" doors. They hinge off of the A-pillar like gullwing doors. More like a SLR McLaren than a Murcielago. In fact, I believe Lamborghini has a patent on their hinge mechanism, meaning that even so called "Lambo door kits" are mislabeled. Just some random trivia...

...and yes, that man has no style and that Q needs to be taken away from him before he harms himself.

Check out... the driver!Hmmm, I like the super cloudy water in the trunk-mounted fishtanks.. with no fish. And I like the way the door struts are out in the open and sorta just chillin' in the front footwells.

Aftermarket "lambo door" kits do not operate anything like real Lamborghini doors; you still have to open your door and swing it out normally a few inches, before lifting it up. Result: floppy doors that can sway side to side when in the up position. And the fact that they still swing outwards is sorta sad... but people don't think about little details like that when they think about lambo doors....

Screw Lamborghini doors. Find a way to imitate the Koenigsegg's doors.

I've actually thought about trying to duplicate those Koenigsegg doors. You'd need a strong pipe mounted to the door which slides into a pipe firmly mounted behind the dash. They'd need teeth on one pipe that fit into a spiral groove in the other pipe. That way they'd rotate up as they move out. In the end, it was just too much effort to try to actually make it work well. Maybe some day though, when I don't have 20 projects going on at once.

Wow. That guy seriously f'd up his Q. It looks terrible. The bumper is quite ugly. And the Delorean doors don't help. His interior looks horrible. He's proud of that? Wow. I can't believe he won all those trophies. Probably for "Stupidest Looking Car" or "Worst in Show".

I don't want my Q spewing flames. I want my Q to still look like a luxury car, but a bad-*** luxury car. Like the way that Wald Q looks. BALLIN!

Thanks for the info guys. I'm probably not going to go with the Lambo doors.
