I have just received my Koni Yellow shocks, and I am looking forward to getting some RS*R Race springs soon..

They drop 1.4inch in the drop, and 1inch in the back...

My question is, why that kind of drop, will I need to invest on RUCAs to make rear camber less aggressive ?

Or will 1 inch be a small difference on the geometry and will not affect camber too much?

No ruca's or adjustable arms will be neccesary. You will need an alignment, and that is all. I do suggest investing in some front pillowball mounts to run more front camber, and adjust the eccentrics in the rear to provide more camber than stock.

BTW, thumbs up for getting some good springs with decent rates.

Well I still don't have the springs but thanks, I won't settle for less

What do you recommend for front pillowballs? Is it expensive?

I do not want to run MORE camber as I drive it daily in the summer..well unless I get tires that I can interchange between left and right I guess..

Camber plates are not that expensive. I don't have a link for you, but I am sure somebody can post one up for you. Considering that your car is stock, you are probably only running 1 degree of camber or less. You can run twice this with no tire wear problems. Bad toe settings is what kills tires. At any rate, pillowball mounts will allow you to change your camber easily and quickly. When I go up to track days for drifting, I run as much camber up front as possible with my pillowballls(Around 4 degrees I think). Afterwards, I put them back to like 2 degrees to drive home. It takes about 5 minutes to adjust them.

I don't know why I thought the shock had to be removed to set the camber, even though I remember seeing people adjusting it. Thanks.

I will look into pillowballs before installing the whole thing (still got 2 months left or something)

Sounds like ou have a good combo. I know the RS-R race springs are quite stiff. Are the spring rates linear or progressive?

The one and only SPL has camber plates for $159http://www.splparts.com/Parts/...t.asp

EDIT: Oops, on second look, those plates are for KTS coilovers. I dont know if they will work with shocks/struts.

as far as i know most camber plates will work with shocks and spring packages

those are fairly universal too

id say give them a call, let them know what you have, and see what they say

werd. If those worked, it would be even cooler, because you could use it to fine tune height settings up front.

It is a very good setup indeed, i run koni yellows with the RSR race springs also. IMO its the best setup you can have outside of coilovers.

You will enjoy it.

koni yellows with ground control sleeve overs id say would be better

but in terms of traditional spring/shock, this is the way to go

^ yeah, thats what i meant.

My driving abiliity has almost maxed out my cars setup, pretty soon ill be looking at upgrading to ground controls.

You have to be careful with ground controls, because with the higher spring rates, you WILL blow the konis.

thats why you get the konis custom valved

i know guys that, after getting the konis redone, have run upwards of 5-600 lb rates for 2 race seasons

Yeah, thats true.

I dont know anyone personally that has gotten them re-valved, but i do know some people who havent, and ran 500+ lb springs, and blew them eventually.

Just adding a note of caution, but i momentarily forgot about the re-valving.

OK so here's the word on the SPL Camber plates..

They will work if you get a 30$us adapter that comes with the coilovers usually.

I know I should get them...but my budget is getting tight (moving in Condo in July..)

So I don't know..we'll see..

You can always add them later in the summer...

I'm a big fan of the "Do it once do it right" line of thought. If I take all of that apart, I'd rather not have to do it again so soon..

My point was you could add them at a later time, but I didnt consider having to remove everything again. Definitely not something you wanna do every weekend.

those ground control sleeves are good?? i have themin my s13 (just bought it last summer), i have yet to check what shocks are in it, but i want to say agx..

anyway my car bounces around everywhere... and ontop of that over bumps where the tire falls away from the car, the spring usually comes off of the perch, and make a horrendous noise when it comes back together.

i think part of my bounciness is my tires though, crappy 195/60 15's. wheels and summer tires are first on my list this summer after i get out of school and get a job. so once i get tires will i notice a big difference and actually start to like my suspension?

another question i had was with real coilovers can the spring fall away from the perch or are they somehow mounted?

sorry for the threadjack

ahh, I dont think the spring is ever supposed to leave the perch. I'm trying to understand how thats even possible. I guess if the springs were too short (meaning they were made for a completely different car) it could happen.

thats not the ground controls, thats the dampers youve got them on, and the way youve got them set

alright thanks

ill have to look into it more, i havent had much of a chance yet

as for the springs leaving the perch..it seems like the springs are just very very stiff and the tires give, so over certain bumps it feels like it really bounces up.
