I'm ordering new knock sensors for my '98. I've read mention of replacing the wiring harnesses as well.

Is that recommended on a '98?

My concern is that I'll get the connector off the sensor ok, but may not be able to reach or locate the origin of the wires in order to replace the whole harness. Anyone with experience on this?

Thanks,Don

The theory here is that good KS with old degraded harness is no good and a net zero improvement.

The environment on a VH45DE is not good for the harness, but I can't imagine it being much better on a VH41DE.

How did this go for you? I have a 97 that needs at least one KS replaced and don't even know how to begin. It looks like you have to take have the top end off just to get to them! Does anyone know how many labor hours a shop would charge for this?

I have done just that(didn't replace harness) and so far no degradation from KS harness. Cheers!
