http://www.bladeforums.com is a great place to find out about knives, from fixed blades to autos. I've been a member there alot longer than I've been a member here and its a great community.

I've got a pretty large collection myself, and like Nathan, my beater is a Cammilus EDC, but mine looks horrible from year of use in a body shop. As for being unable to justify $145 for a knife, most of those guys will tell you that you get what you pay for. I've got knives that I paid alot more for than that, and you can tell it in the details.

If you're anywhere near mechanically inclined, check out http://www.knifekits.com They have great quality kits, the prices are pretty low, and you get to put them together the way you want. I've got close to 6 knife kits and have been totally satisfied with all of them.

I have a 4" version of this knife. I like it. Very smooth operation. Flick it right and you can snap the blade out without starting it with yout thumb. Looks good too. Best part for me was I didn't pay a dime for it. Someone left it at my house and never claimed it. And I have no idea who. :)

And no...it's none of you. :pface

yeah. i love the metal frame, and the nylon blade bushing lets you just flick it open. sucker's sharp, and holds an edge pretty good.

just a wrist flick will pop it open.

Which benchmade? I'm thinking either a benchmade or a CUDA Maxx will be my next knife. Oh, and Toki...ya gotta remember that they give knives to Cub Scouts :) It can't be too illegal!

yeah, it's usually a length issue with knives.

and Nathan, I don't think the Cuda is gonna be legal to carry anywhere, did you notice the open length on that sucker? 12 freakin' Inches!

if you want one though, check ebay (assuming your comfortable with it)

another good make for knives is Micro-Tech, the makers of the HALO II, the coolest freakin' auto knife ever!
