i have a CA18 engine on my nissan 200sx.. My t25 turbo is startin to sound weird day by day so i need to change it before it brakes down. All junkyard turbos are T25s but other than that there is kkk k27 turbo of the bmw 745 1980-84 . i was wondering if it would be driveable with such a big turbo on a small displacement engine.??????? how much lag will i approx. face?Anyone know to which is this turbo equivilant in garret turbos?... PS: T28 turbos are not an option. they are not availeable in my country.

Found this info:

"It is good for 22 psi and 500 hp with no changes and it can be used for over 500k."

Might be a bit big, but the CA revs pretty high so you could be alright. I am going to guess it'll be pretty laggy though.

It was the stock turbo on 3.2l turbo Porsche 911's.

EDIT: Its similar in size to a Garrett T04E 60 Trim. Seems to max out at close to 44lb/min, so its pretty much like a 2876R with a big turbine housing. Here is a compressor map:

I would imagine it would go like hell once you got it above 5000 rpm. Sure you could drive it, but you'll need to rev it pretty high. You would need some big fuel injectors and some very good tuning.

And btw.. do u think a hybrid turbo can be made of a kkk k27 / T25 ? or it only works for T3/T4 and such turbos????

At redline pushing 20psi on a CA you're not even scratching the surface of that turbo. We're talking barely inside the 70% efficiency island.

In other words, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big. I think it's bigger than a Mitsu 20G. And 20Gs are basically drag turbos on our engines.

If you're looking for something with more (useable) top end poke look at Evo 16Gs or Typhoon 17c or one of the many Garrett T3/T04e variants out there. They're everywhere online and not expensive (I'm told the EVO 16Gs spool like mad and haul *** all the way to redline). Would need to have some fabricating done but you could just reflange an ebay manifold and have a dp made relatively cheaply.

but how come? the KKK K27 has a max of 22 PSI... so how can we be bearly 70% at 20 PSI? and how cheap are u saying the Mitsu turbo is? cause in lebanon you can find KKK k27 for as less as 150$ to 200$ max if it was nearly new... give me another cheap alternative... with price thanks everyone...

It's a big turbo that pushes a large volume of air. The keyword is volume. Two different turbos can both push 22psi but the larger one will move more CMF. Which means, while the pressure is the same, the density of the charge is different.

As to the cost, most turbos tend to be more expensive than $200.

Just curious...but...how do you know if a turbo is going to go out on you? When I let off the gas it sounds like an airplane engine coming to a stop kinda thing. That high pitched slow whine is normal right?

go on ebay and get a holset turbo......... the HX25 is really cheap and on a relatively stock CA still will be pushing toward too big. an SR20 T25 or T28 is about all the bigger I would want to go well being really close to stock.

dont forget the FP with with your big dog injectors

she killed what 2 CAs in a month? asked a million stupid questions only to pay someone else to fix it. Then tryed to sell them on ebay as "like new" or something to that effect when infact she had thrashed them.

heard something about an RB later on after sean got her banned (twice I think).........

oh ok, I see that it can often just be a gasket vibrating. could be that since when I drove it I only had 1 bolt on the 02 and the downpipe wasnt even hooked up....

Ill get a vid once I connect it all up if it still makes that sound.

Quality stuff right there.

Two_Fortee, I am going to go ahead and guess that noise had something to do with your distinct lack of fasteners on the exhaust. I would get all that squared away before you bother to post a video. Actually, who cares, I'll still watch it.

guys.. all this time I was talking about my friends CA18... but I have an LS1 on a 240sx... and I wanted to ask... (although out of this topic and thread) but If i wanted to use the KKK K27 on the LS1 should use 2... as a turbo for each 4 cylinders? or should I just go Single? cause I feel that I would over load the KKK k27 with the LS1... and maybe have lag with 2 KKK's... so anyone informative about this?

Thanks people, and sorry for the miss placed post... :P

2 would be about right for a 5.7l v8. they came stock on the 3.2l carrera and made good power without a whole lot of lag, so at 2.85l/turbo you should be fine.
