Just borrow a friends dog. Problem solved.
Throw fireworks.
Paintball them.
Pee around your shop....

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying feral cats are fun like my domestic ones are. In fact, as a cat owner, I see them as a disease/parasite risk to my outdoor cats in addition to the NASTY fights they get in with domestic cats.

I'm also in favor of traps, though. Poison, antifreeze, etc. are hazards to ALL animals, not just the few cats you have problems with.

I dont want anybody to think i hate cat cuz I dont. My furniture is just to nice to risk a kitty scratching it up. At one time I had Two Main Coones (Jackson and Cloud) an american short hair orange (Dutchess Smackelbees the Thrid <---favorite cat ever and yes i did name her that) and a small strey named Nike, he was grey with a white nike symbol on his belly. I love all animals. These two awesome puppies are the first dogs i have had sense i lost my Birdog, who got ran over chasing a bird. She loved birds to death!

Im just saying a good way to keep the population down is to get a shop dog, or get a dog to bring to the shop with you. When the cats catch wind of your k9 companion they wont hang around much longer.
If your unsure of Pits most hunting breeds hates cats too, Blue Ticks are laid back, loyal as all get out, but when it comes to ferreting out other animals they go at it with a single minded alacrity that can be hard to deal with.

I had the same problem at my old job. Except i would feed them every morning lol. Stray cats are like homeless people. Once word gets out that there is a place to eat, the whole cavalry comes.

My advice is to keep your trash and other things you dont want them to get into tightly sealed. Maybe find a big box or something, put a hole in it, food, and soft things for them to live in and move it a few hundred feet from your shop..when the cats try to get into your shop shoe them out so they will realize not to go in there after a while.

I also worked in a machine shop so there was a lot of noise that kept them out of the shop during the day.

As far as decimating bird populations you'd do more good by slapping on some patchouli, slipping on your hemp clothing and protesting deforestation, pollution and pesticides as all of these kill far more birds than feral cats do.
Yeah but I can't have fun shooting what amounts to an invasive species while being a patchouli-eater.

Antifreeze won't work, they now put a bittering agent in it. Plus, as anyone who has tried to poison rats/mice can tell you, poisoned critters have a nasty habit of dying in the worst spots...behind a wall, for example. Good luck getting their rotting corpse out.

put out a bowl of food, snatch them up while they're eating, put them in (breatheable) boxes and a) take them to the animal shelter or b) out to a field somewhere? i feel bad them having no home and no food. breaks my heart.
Lulz. The ignorance of innocence.

Kill them. Quickly and humanely.

A cousin of mine was killed by a supposedly friendly pitt bull a few years ago. He was only 5 years old. I FOR SURE won't be getting a pitt.

thats a shame and sad. pit bulls arent inherently mean though, its usually the person that trains them who makes them mean. pit bulls arent even the #1 deadliest dog anymore I believe.

sorry about your cousin :(

This.

They DO, however, along with most bully breeds, have INSANE prey drives. LOVE people (they were meant to serve and protect humans to begin with) but all other critters beware. Ryan and I always wanted to let Dante loose on like... a rabbit or something. See what he could do with it. Never got the chance though.

Shop dog FTW! Unless you know, the kitties give it rabies. Then that's sad. :frown:

500fps?

My Gamo Whisper will push .22 pellets at 900fps+. Why would you even bother with that? Just get a decent air rifle.

Maybe you have a .22 and not an air rifle.

Maybe you want a true fps, not the magic-out-of-thin-air number a lot of air rifles use.

Also that's 500fps with a 20gr bullet, what's your Gamo get 900fps with? A 10gr?
