Ethanol adds and desolves certain types of plastics. Bosch Japan designed Q injectors to operate with conventional gasoline available in JAPAN back in 1988. No one used ethanol in gasoline in Japan or US in 1988.
Even MTBE [also an alcoholic ether] caused reactions to a lesser degree.
Unfortunately US refiners changed formulations time and time again after the injectors were installed.
I don't believe anything can BUFFER the solvent action without causing clogging problems.
There were early cases where SULFURIC ACID was used to remove the water in distilled ethanol.........unfortunately they sold it contaminated but that situation no longer occurs.
