Why dont you just keep your car stock then, if all the aftermarket parts are bad why do they make them??? Why do so many people use them??
Its pretty close. I have aftermarket header, exhaust, spark coil, radio, and intake because the stock stuff was 21 years old and worn. But none of these nets me a great power gain therefore they are almost pointless to get rid of if they function fine at this time.

We didn't say they were bad, but we did mention the lack of power made and the cost associated isn't what I would consider responsible spending.

Estimate of wasted money on typical NA mods
Header $150 at most
Intake $150 ish with filter
Spark coil $45-50
Lightweight flywheel $200
Light weight Crank Pulley $50
total so far $600 Lets say at best with a tune you get 20hp off that stuff

Or spend double ($1200) on a turbo kit? which can double your hp and tq numbers.

if you want you can take your cam to a machine shop and get it re-ground according to your custom specs... i looked for a single cam, cam and i didnt find one either but i know you can get em re-ground.

you guys trying to build your sohc just need to search better. they make everything you need for them. it isnt as vast of choices but for the most part the stuff they do make is great. definetly check out oandjperformance and xcessive and amsperformance. and to argue the fan setup. i personally have installed my efans thinking id get some crazy gains...i only got down low power. anything above 2700 was the same. now i wish i could go back to my clutch fan but im affraid it wont fit with my supercharger plate there...we will see, if it does it is going back on. the efans are great for people who dont have power and are trying anything to make power...but truth be told every light i stop at i listen to see if my fans are on or looking at rpm drop to see when they turn on. I personally dont need the slightly (very slightly) increase in accelleration at this point in my build.
crank pulley; yes its lighter and smaller diameter but it has no balancer. this pulley i would only trust if my entire rotating assembly was balanced. you should look to see what a harmonic balancer actually does and then you will understand its use.
I have probably tested the limits of my sohc further than 95% of anybody on here orin general...maybe more. I dont claim to be a master/god of them but i do have alot of dyno time, parts experience and wrench time to definetly give you some more than good advice...so if you want it ill give it....check the sig\/

oh and a header was a waste of money in my opinion...had one on my coupe a didnt notice anything but sound
