I have a 1993 240 and i am wanting to swap the auto transmission out for a manual. The thing I want to know is will a ka24e transmission fit on a ka24de? Trust me it is a ***** trying to find a ka24de transmission where I’m at, but the ka24e transmissions are plentiful. Thanks people.

Like everyone has said...Yes, the 89-90 transmission does Fit for 91-94 Dohc Engines. Currently right now, my 91 Dohc engine has an 89 transmission that was rebuilt.

I currently have a 95 motor in my S13 with and trans from an 89. everything bolted up correctly but with the trans in 1st or any gear when i let off the clutch pedal right where the clutch engages or disengages i hear grinding. I know its not the transmission. I know what synchro grinding sounds like. I'm at a loss.

careful with the words, Florida240sx is 100% correct. if something isnt working, you're either overthinking it or theres a problem with the parts youre using. make sure you have a MT pilot bushing in the crank.

here's your writeup:

get your extensions and universals out. unless you are pulling the engine and transmission together, you will be sitting on the floor of the garage under your car with your head in the transmission tunnel from about 3 feet back trying to get your socket wrench on the bolts that secure the upper half of the trans. to the block.

get a transmission lift/jack and support it, have a friend there to help you catch it when it comes off.

put a 2x4 under the crank pulley and slowly raise the front of the engine so it is tilted back to accommodate removal. you may be able to get more angle by loosening the motor mount nuts.

remove the starter and set it aside. remove all of the transmission bolts, be careful to keep them in order as they are different lengths.

when the bolts are gone, give it a good tug making sure that your friend isnt UNDER it in case it falls off your lift. if it is stubborn, you can use your rubber mallet to whack it off () or pull from side to side until it is free.

Get a 14mm wrench and sockets. Remove battery from car before doing anything.Remove shifter from transmission. Disconnect all plugs on transmission. Remove the slave cylinder, held on by 2 14mm bolts. Remove all transmission bolts 14 mm. You with friend and caution pull transmission out.Grab a sohc transmission and repeat process backwards.

I need to find out if there is any problems with a s14 DOHC motor to a SOHC transmission also. Someone help us out.

The SOHC transmission is missing the crank angle sensor, so the check engine light will be on if this is going into an S14. I may be wrong though.

Any other problems besides the crank angel sensor. I have a 95 motor in my s13 and no check engin light is on.

:squint: Yes. only some DE trans have 4 sensors and SOHC only have 3, also the breather tube is a bit different with the tube bolted to one of the top bolts to keep it elevated.

S13 KA trans KA-E and DE are the Same. The trans is the same for the SR and S14 KA witht he exception of the SR bellhousing, and the S14 bell having a hole for the CAS needed for the S14.

YOU CAN USE THE TRANS. You need
Trans
Crossmember
Driveshaft (ABS if you have ABS, non if you dont)
Bellhousing bolts (some of the autos are the wrong size)
NEW flyweel bolts
Clutch kit with pilot bushing or bearing
Slave
CMC
Harldine with or without damper if you plan to bypass it.
Pedal assy with mounting nuts
Wire
And some time

Ok, i hate to revive the thread again but, stupid question i know that the individual transmissions could easily be changed but would a clutch/flywheel for the ka24de transmission work with the ka24e transmission/housing.

Should be fine.

Clutch depends on the engine for mounting, all the 5speed trannies are the same shape for bellhousing and same input shaft.
