I was wondering what sort of ecu modifications would be necessary to keep the car running with the carburetor conversion? Also, I have searched on this and other 240 forums for related topics and haven't had a great deal of luck, but has anyone on here ever done or seen one of these conversions? I'm inexperienced with ecu tuning and there are not alot of tuner shop options around here, so i thought this would be a pretty fun alternative. JUst about anyone can turn a screwdriver. Here is a pic.

If you have a carburetor, you don't have an ECU. Unless of course you want to use a feedback carburetor, which would be pointless as those are all-around worse than FI.

FI is cool, just carbs offer you some possibilities for easy tuning and I have heard a little better airflow. You don't use an ECU, from what I understand you take the guts from a one of the L series distributors and put the stuff into yours, then you can run ignition w/o ECU.

why do you want to put a carburetor on a fuel injected car?

well that's kinda complicated. i bought a used single slammer and wanted to build for a n/a street car. nothing real crazy. just bolt-on and some head work. i already have a tanabe exhaust. but i dont know **** about tuning with a computer and cant afford alot of dino time. so i wanted to do the hot rod thing and put a carburetor on it, some matte black wheels, paint a devil girl on the quarter and have some autox fun. i just read about a autox event that incorporates rally and time attack. that sounds fun. i read into the distributor thing and found this. http://p205.ezboard.com/fdimeq...topic plus, does anyone else have a 89 240 thats painted lavender frost? it's a weird color.

The KA24E carb kit is nuts! I wanted to do that but it is pricey. I then wanted to do a hybrid but the block/crank I was going to buy got thrown away, no biggy.

I posted about the Distributor awhile back in this forum.

edit: hear be the thread

ya, that was what i was trying to make the link to, but i ****ed up. thanks alot though, everything u need is there. but do you still have like transmission speed censor, o2 censor, and all that other stuff? will they still work if u eliminate half the computer functions of the car???? but you dont think it is just as expensive to go for similair goals using traditonal tuning methods? i'm talking n/a methods. you need intake, throttle body, fuel puimp, probally injectors, an ecu, then dyno tuning. thats probally close to a g.
