I have a KA w/ a hks gt2530r on it. It is basically the same size as a gt2860 aka gt28rs. ( 63 trim comp versus a 62 trim comp). Two words - frickin' insane. That is how the KA should have felt from the factory. I also have a 90 civic w/ a t3/t4 b16 8500rpm baby (7.5psi 13.6 1/4 mile). My friend has an A1 rabbit w/ a T4 vr6 (12.7 1/4 mile). My other friend has a C4 Corvette w/ a Lingenfelter 383 stoker lump ( too sacred too run(crash) it). We all have the same thing to say about the turbo KA at 9 psi. " I can't believe you waited this long to put your turbo on(5 years) , I'm so amazed how much this thing hauls". It is great , 2500 in fifth mash the gas and boom 9 psi in .5 sec , crazy. My Honda doesn't start building boost till 5000 rpms , yeah building not hitting full boost.

I bought my turbo b for I knew alot about turbos. I just saw HKS and jumped. The guy sold it to me w/ a blown BB seal which leaks oil into my intercooler. Can't do nothing now. NEVER BUY USED BALL BEARING TURBOS!!!

I would start w/ at least gt2871r thou now , just for upgradeability. But the gt2860r flows up 17 psi on a stock KA ( No cams , port polish , displacment up etc...) That turbo is rated at 350hp , and we all know that no stock 4 cyl is going to make 350hp at 9 psi " choke this". That turbo will pull all the way to 7200rpm ( thank you JWT). You are not even tickling it at 9psi.

If you are hell bent on a KA-T then go for it. I'm an SR fan but i won't try to sway you. But, if you are only shooting for that kind of power it could be done so much cheaper. Your list of parts is very extensive, I guess that is why the total number ends up so high. People need to disregard all of the stuff like rad/fans/gauges/wideband etc. when they look at the total cost and only talking about your HP goal. As far as the motor mods go to get you to your HP goals go, you can def cut out some costs. If your manifold is a top mount I would not choose a GT2860. You could go with the trusty ol T3/T4 50 trim for a little more than half the cost and make the power you want a 8-9 psi and have the potential to make 400 hp if you want. My .63 50 trim made 394RWHP @ 18 psi on my SR. Not only that, I personally think a top mount T28 housing would look goofy, too small to be up top. As far as tuning is concerned unless you are a seasoned tuner, and I get the impression you are not, I would forget about tuning the car yourself. The nistune sounds like a great tuning system but needs to be tuned properly. From what I understand the KA is a little more sensitive to the tune than something like a SR or RB ( a motor built for a turbo). I also cant understand why most all KA-T guys running a 50 trim choose the .48 housing. My SR pulls 18 psi by 4400rpm w/ my .63 housing. And the famous statement made when debating SR vs. KA is the .4 liter of displacement. Use that .4 liters and get a .63 housing that will pull much better up top and spool plenty fast on the KA. This baffles me???

If you're willing to spend $1000 bucks on a turbo, ditch that POS GT2860RS and get a 3076R.

The GT2860RS is just a Disco potato.

gt3076r will spool fast enough on the ka and slow on the sr .

Enough of the swap talk. The KAT will make 350whp all day for years of trouble free fun. It just has to be done right.

Make a new thread or two since they are different questions. More people will read them and give you better answers.
