whats better a ca18det or ka24de or sr20, my friend want to sale me a ca18det for 1500 and he says that you can swap it without cuttin and welding sounds really easy. i really dont want to put a sr20 cause with the money that i will put in to it it seems i could jus get a rb26 swap, my goal is to make 12s then 10s and what ever after that is good, but i need to make 10s and better can you help me

ka is a 2.4 liter, the ca18det is a 1.8 liter turbo, and sr20det is a 2 liter turbo. Keep in mind the naturally aspirated Ka has 155 hp and 160 ftlb torque, The Ca18det has 166 horse power and 166 ftlb Torque with the turbo, The sr20det makes depending on year can make 201 hp to 245hp and 202 ftlb torqe to 210 ft.lb torquePersonally I am choosing to spend my 3000 on Turbo charging my Ka24e I am sure that this will get you 10s faster than an sr20 or ca18. seeing that boltons will match the power of a ca18 and there are ka24s with 210 hp naturally aspirated, But turbocharging them can get you alot more power for the dollar. Your 1500 dollars is a good start on a jgs kit for your ka. You should check the Ka-t side of this site, or Ka-t.org

i was looking foward to turbo charcing my ka at one time but then i stopped cause really didnt see to much up grades for it, like came and piston and etc, but im not saying that there isnt any out there, it jus seems like your limited to parts and up grades, alot of the thing that i have found to up grade my car are jus a lil better then stock and cost alot. it seems like i wouldnt get my money worth, i seen some ka run 12, but not to many. and like i said 12 is alright but i need to make 10 at one point.

i do look foward to turbo charging the ka but im jus worried if i do that will it be a waste, becasue i wont have the parts to make 10s

LOL

Well I thought since the KA vs CA vs SR discussions were so overdone I had to throw another engine choice up.

Its out of a Volvo.

or...just put a LS1 in it froma vette. 400hp everyday. your going to spend 15k to get your car into 10's on turbo motors.

I beg to differ on the 15 k tag but it can cost 5 k to get high tens and be safe, I have looked at turboing my motor for 6 months so yeah the jgs kit is 1700 and you just need ecu downpipe and z32 Maf then you might want forged pistons and rods then your basically set for adding as much boost as you want
