i really wanna get an aftermarket intake mani for my kade but there arent any sorta cheap ones so i was thinking....buy a sr20 greddy knock-off, cut the flange off and weld the kade intake flange on???..in the pics of the greddy knock-off you can see a spot for a sensor...maybe IACV or AAC not sure? but im sure im not the first to think bout this.... any info would be amazing!!!!

Search for Xcessive intake manifold- they are the cheapest aftermarket manifold for the KA. There are some DIY options, and I certainly would be curious to see if you could chop and weld a KA flange to an SR manifold- but I doubt it would be very cost effective. It'd probably be easier to fab your own entirely. Search around- you'll find a thread somewhere in the archives, I'm sure.

I remember seeing posts about bigvinnie's ported stock manifolds. Here is the link, but beware, it is an old a** thread: zerothread?id=251243

Personally, I think a stock manifold (stock or preferably ported) would outperform an Xcessive manifold and would need proof to believe otherwise - but I don't expect that to hold up as anything other than my honest opinion. The only way to get that proof would be to take a ka-de and compare dyno sheets with nothing else changed but the manifolds, and who is gonna take the time to do that? Has Xcessive proved that their manifold is better than stock? I have heard that a stock KA-DE manifold can support 500hp with a turbo, what is so bad about it that it needs to be changed?

I remember some guy was on here last year giving Bigvinnie alot of s*** about how "he doesn't know s***", and that "Bigvinnie doesn't know how power is made" and his exact words were "Bigvinnie is such a goddamned dumbass hater" but this guy, who's name is GTLegend, is not accurate according to what I believes.

I basically did what you said. I wanted the manifold runners to 90 right out of the head flange though so I sent a Greddy knock off to Xcessive and they used there billet flange and added some length to the runners. I'm going to wire brush up the knock off metal to try to get it to match the billet a lil more. As for hp loss and gains I'm not really sure. I am planning on just running the stock mani until I build up my engine. Then I'll check out what the differences are stock to this.

Post results please! I changed too much stuff to give a comparo between stock and Xcessive and am now looking at the exhaust manifold for gains (woohoo dropping a grand on a custom header!). If it weren't such a PITA I'd probably try BigVin's manifold (or port my own).

Turbo results are going to be vastly different for manifold designs than NA, and in truth, the Xcessive design has been based mainly on turboing the KA (a stock block might get more benefit from a smaller plenum like the one in the pic). But the price is reasonable enough and Rich is a good guy.

i vote you should do the greddy knock off with ka flange. i have been thinking about this for almost a year. i now have access to a tig welder, and i have experience in aluminum so i may end up doing it. but i have also go the lower intake ported (not installed) and i was thinking about for the upper intake to cut it open and really get all the casting flaws out. let us know what you do and how you go about it.

well when you do put in on let me know how everthing hooks up like IACV and AAC becse thats what im mainly worried about be cause im not sure if the sensors frm a kade will work on a sr20 manifold?... the pics you posted look exactly like what i want!
