alright kool, soo lemme ask u guys something, roughly about how much would it cost to do a full rebuild on a KA, steaming the under carriage bore'N the engine. doing the foam to the engine. new rods , new everything.Coupe_love wrote:i do have aim.. dsmmech
i was thinking on taking apart the engine, putting it in a steam closet. bore'N the cyclinders, hot pressure watering the car.Coupe_love wrote:most of that stuff you can do yourself.. id invest in a pressure washer or borrow one.... you cant hurt anything under the hood with a pressure washer.. and theyll do a chemical bath on the engine when they work it.. if youre sceptical.. just ask them if they willl. couldnt be too much more.. if i had to put a number on it.. id say save up 2 grand.. just to be safe.
yea i know, i wanted to do a engine rebuild but, i think ima just do a engine swap for a SR20DET.grecco28 wrote:ok, i see the video it sounds bad.... i think is conecting rod or piston pin sound.. you have to open the engine to check it ...
There you go trust me don't waste money on your ka go sr man you will regret it. I have been there and done that with ka24de.scottyvEE3 wrote:

haha dont worry im not, ill prolly end up buying it anyways. but a shop is most likely going to do it for me, besides i dont have the tools or equipment for that. the shop is actually ordering the engine tom from JAPAN STAR MOTOR in albany NY. its 3 hrs from where i live. so itll be faster to get here and would make it quiker for me to have my engine. i got quoted 1900 for i believe a redtop. around 45k - 50k , everything included. 600 for installation, and 200 for the tune up. so about 2700 for everything.. you think that sounds just about right or not? let me know what u guys thinknisssan-drive wrote:Also if your swapping the sr your self you might want to check out the sr20 swap dvd, because from what I read(not to be rude) it doesn't sound like your mechanically inclined.
the front clips on the cars that are shipped out say 100k - 120k mi.scottyvEE3 wrote:ooh i see, but how would u really know the exact mileage on a motor? and yea i just posted a thread reguarding what should be done before i actually install the motor. like prepp'n wise
