soo needless to say i'm up to the point on the upper manifold where im getting ready to fill or weld the holes left over from removing the butterflies and rail. so what do you think I should do to remedy the problemo? I know a guy that can weld it up for me but it's gonna cost $45.00, and I could simply use jb weld or multi metal epoxy. soo, what do you guys think?-thanks

well it's actually that the butterflies wouldn't be closing. when vacuum is applied they close. I'm thinkin it's a fuel economy part, but im not certain. I am certain that they do help with top end, especially with good tuning. and is a must if you ever plan on boosting. we ran into problems with a ka-t because we didn't, and under boost it was actually forcing them to narrow. hope that helps. now c'mon guys, whatcha think? epoxy err weld?

i think welding will be the best way to solve the problem and it will reduce less problems in the future

They close under deceleration to prevent air from being sucked out of the cylinder though the intake, they also help on cold startups. i removed mine as well and jb welded them shut, just havent put my motor back together yet. Mi mani is in my sig.

yep It's definately worth doing, it seemes to have made a tiny difference in throttle response in a good way. while you have everything apart you should also consider running an antifreeze line straight from your spout on the upper half to the heater core line. and remove your vacuum gallery and plug the nipple that ran to your throttle body at the spout as well, keep your intake mani that much colder:) free power = good day

i have been haveing some problems with my engine idleing wildly. and as i was inspecting the engine i found that one nipple on the right side (facing away?) the throttle boday was not plugged or hooked up to anything can you tell me what hoses go to where on the throttle body? it would really help with the new engine and all.

thank you.
