Hey Im New to this but I would like to know why people remove emissions from their kA's ? I just bought a 97 240sx and it had the intake manifold emissions removed so now I can't pass inspection because the engine service is on and it has 7 codes. is there anyway that I can keep the car like that but just erase the engine service light permanently ? Or if someone know about someone who can help me pass my inspection, i live in Raleigh NC

The PCM in your car is detecting the missing equipment. The PCM will continue to set a MIL until the emissions system is corrected. The only other way I can think to correct the MIL is by using a standalone PCM.

On a 97 in NC you are going to have issues. No way around putting that stuff back on that I know of. Unless you just find an inspection place that really likes you a lot.

I can maybe help you out here. I had a 1996 that I turbo'ed and pretty much deleted all the emission stuff, but still had to pass OBDII. Pretty much you unplug your EGR temp sensor (kind of a B to get to) and jump the connector with a resistor. I'm not sure what Ohm you need, but you should be able to search this online. Pretty much the ECU thinks it's at the appropriate temp that doesn't require EGR operation. The ECU never tries to operate the EGR system therefore never throwing a code. Look here (http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/240sx/1997/el.pdf) page EL-218 & EL-219 for the location of the plug. Hope this helps, good luck.

As I was typing this I found the old thread I think I used like 8 years ago lol. resistor-for-egr-temp-sensor-t94395.html
