Ka24de- dude thinks his miata can take a 240sx

So i was ridin around tonight with billy in his 91 240sx, he gets a call and this dude wants to race him. Well he drove a 95 miata and bragged until we got to the street that a 240sx aint got nothin on the miata. Well it happened, and lets just say he got his a** handed to him. But now hes talking mess that he can take my single cam 240sx. So i told him to meet me at the drags and let everyone see him get beat and on film. Question- will the short ram intake install work with a 90 single cam 240sx? Thanks

not including filter of coarse; one 45* elbow from autozone or go to the pipe supply and get a 45* alluminum piece, and 3 couplers from same autozone.BAM your done or can go my route and buy $h&%ty ebay intake and chop chop. my chop job gets me plenty more than stock system response,and power. That whole efficiency deal is crap as long as your not retaRD'D and get a 1 1/2" pipe get 2 1/2" or 3" and a crappy ebay filter is great for flow but not filtering pimpin needs to back up, price doesnt always = efficient

Neither car was made for drag racing out the box... and it seems both of you guys are pretty much stock...

With drivers of equal skill, stock cars, a miata will essentially kill a 240sx in terms of drag & road racing...

Straight line acceleration for stock miata's & 240's are equivalent. 1.8L, but also 500lbs less weight, or something around there. Neither cars are particularly fast.

However, because of the lighter weight, and I believe better suspension stock - miata's own 240's in turns. Fixed up, it's anyone's game...

240sx is a sporty car.

Miata is a sports car.

I love 240's and all, but stock ones can only do so much.

And we don't have to "think miatas can take 240s", you can witness it.. Go to a road track event or an autox event...

those 2 stock cars in a straight line, it all boils down to the drivers.

Stock Miata has equiv 1/4 mile time +/- .2 seconds of a 240sx DOHC base model. Against a sohc, it does have a slight advantage.

It all boils down in the launch. If you guys are equivalent drivers, he's gonna win.

If you launch like no one's business, you are gonna win.

If you guys want to make things interesting, do what some of the old muscle car guys use to do - bracket racing.

You guess your 1/4 time, whether it's 4.5 seconds, or 20 seconds... closest time wins - now that's knowing your car... of course, that's probably a different kind of drag race that you guys aren't interested in since you are trying to beat eachother the normal way.

Try actualy going racing....Miata's are fast as hell through turns.They have pretty close to the same power a as a 240, they are lighter and have a more advanced suspension set up.You can find miata's routinly putting in faster time's then Vettes at your local autox.

Just cause the miata isn't a "cool" car, and it wont impress your buddies doesn't mean they aren't an increadbly well built/designed car.
