Ok I have never owned a turbo'd car but I have always wanted one, I have a 1995 240sx, and am wondering what I need for a turbo and can somebody explain what everything is for me...and where it goes, I feel so retarded trying to figure it out but it just wont work for me because I have never seen one in person or had one... I do not want to spend a butt load of money and I only want 200 hp or maybe a little more, not much, and nothing to blow my motor, just some simple boost for a DD. I am in the process of replacing my clutch with a F1 racing clutch, stage 1...my stock one just started grinding like crazy... If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.. and I have been looking for a cheap sr20 t25/28 turbo and others but cannot find anything cheap, even on ebay. except the whole kit which I didnt really want to rely on a ebay kit...please explain the FMU and all those other words/abbreviations you use. thanks

rising rate fuel pressure regulator, basically the same thing as a FMU

As i understand it, it will increase fuel pressure as boost increases, that way you can run low boost levels on smaller injectors. In my opinion they are a cheap way out, and the correct way to manage your fuel would be at the very least with larger injectors and some sort of piggy back controller, like a SAFC. The real way to do it should be with larger injectors, possibly an aftermarket FPR, and some sort of fuel management ( im partial to Nistune) that way you can change parameters such as injector size, MAFs, monitor your AFR's, and adjust your timing.

Oh well I don't know how to do any of That lol. So if I got a SAFC (what's that?) then what would I do? And also what would I search for on let's say eBay to find what I need?

SAFC is a "Super Air Fuel Controller", made by APEX'i, i hate to be an a$$, but this is all REALLY basic stuff, search around and read A LOT and you can find out most of everything you need to know, and dont let things intimidate you, i didnt know very much about tuning before i started and im not great now, but i can manage everything i need to

I have been researching but there are still a lot of things I don't understand. Thanks for the help tho and if anybody has any parts for a KA-T for sell then let me know

a RRFPR or "FMU" is perfectly fine for a LOW boost setup (~5 or 6 psi). At the very least, you will need a new fuel pump.

Yes, they are cheap, but that is the idea. Low boost setups are also usually very cheap. You wouldn't be doing low boost if you weren't cheap :0

That's really what I'm wanting is a low boost. I'll go higher n. Upgrade later on. I'll buy a walbro or w/e. Where does the fmu go? Like plug in or whatever? And can I use my stock injectors or do I need to upgrade?

you can use your stock injectors with an fmu, again for low boost, like 5-7 psi, the FMU ( or rrfpr) foes inline with the fuel system and has a vaccum source to it

Oh ok lol I kinda understand... So does it go in the fuel tank or like near the fuel filter? Thanks for trying to help me understand. Also can I use a small intercooler? And use any ic piping for it?

Dude seriously, you should do some general searching and googling.

You will not need a boost controller for a low boost setup. You will need a wastegate that opens at whatever boost you want to run. The FMU goes after the fuel rail, on the return line of the fuel hose... in the engine bay. One line coming from your fuel rail plugs into one side, and coming out of the other side is another line. It goes back to your fuel tank (AKA the return line). There is also a vacuum hose going to the FMU.

Yes, you can run an intercooler. It is recommended.

i meant a small intercooler like the ebay ones that are half size and they work with the different set pipes... i found a TDO5 turbo for the mitsubishi eclipse 91 - 99... will that work on my 95 240sx?

We typically need more information than that, but yes, that should work for a low boost setup.

And yes, you can run any size intercooler you want. The larger it is, the better it will cool the incoming air.

You should read this thread, there's a lot of good information in there.
