stock engine, t28 setup, 555cc injectors, z32 maf with enthalpy ecu, boosting 12psi on 91octane... raced my friend from 2nd to end of 4th gear. when i let off throttle in 4th, all i can see was blue smoke. and thats the end of that. bye bye to my 4th KA.

damn d00d.. why don't ya just build an engine? I think for as much as you have spent on the 4 of them.. you might be able to build one? Parts are getting cheap for the DE-t now.

Good luck with the next one.. if you stick with it.

I'm at 34,000 miles in my KA (over its life span) and about 20k while boosted at 8psi with a T3/T04 .63. I hope mine doesn't blow

i believe it is time for some pistons and you might as well throw some rods in there as well.

Sunny... weren't you sayign the enthaly ecu was running too rich and you had it leaned? He tunes fro 93 octane, unless you specify I beleive, and your wideband could of been going bad. Any datalogging when it happened?

wideband sensor is brand new. i subtracted a lil bit of fuel to compensate for the rich tune. i have no idea what happened. boosting 12psi for about 400 miles then POP!

PS: I DID spend money for a built motor remember? 9:1 pistons, arp head studs, cometic HG... etc oil pressure sensor popped off while i was driving breaking it in after 300 miles. spun a rod bearing. and that was the end of that.

Sunny, I need your motor. Blown is fine. If you pull it and need to et rid of it, I'll look into having it shipped out to TX.

This leads me to believe that you had a leak somewhere and it was causing you to run rich under no to minimal load. If you subtracted fuel from an area of the fuel map that was already lean enough, then that's where your problem lies.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune! Hopefully your 8th motor holds up...

just dropped off my built motor that spun a rod to the machine shop. theyre going to regrind the crank and put in new bearings. breaking stuff isnt fun. 3 SRs in my s13, 4 KAs in my s14 and crashed 1 Yamaha R6 motorcycle

WD: ill be using the head from this motor and putting it onto the built block along with the front cover, oil pan and oil pump. if you still want the block with pistons, rods and crank. let me know

Man at this point I'd look into getting a toyota prius and calling it quits. You should get it all together and take it to a shop to have tuned.

Stop Don't let them regrind the crank. Unless it's just polishing. Don't need something like the crank to be messed up. Plan for high numbers right?Could it of been a boost spike? Check base timing?I blew a stock motor at 7psi with enthalpy tune at 66.6milesSame ecu tune that was running fine with all my other mtors that just had mechanical defects.

i CAN swap engines with one hand! i had a left full arm cast earlier this year from my motorcycle accident. i also had to swap out an SR from my s13 at that time too. with a lil help ofcourse

im sure the pistons blew due to a lil too much lean action from my safc. i guess to be safe run SUPER rich.

my new setup is as follows:

wiseco 9:1 pistons .20 overeagle rodscalico coated bearingsARP hardwarecometic headgasketstock head with 248 232 cams (for now)

That also might have something to do with the fact im buying them all hehe. Iv picked up 4 from NICO in the last 3 mounths.. Have less than 300 invested in them.. Ones ready to drop in and the other three need work.

Wow 7 blown engines, mabey keep the boost a little lower on the stock block?

You'v also been pretty unlucky.. Damn, blowing your built motor because your oil sending unit fell out is pretty crappy.

Well your new setup looks good, hope you have some better luck!

wow sig worthy at least.take it out of state on a flatbed if you need to, but next time get it tuned so that the afc isnt needed. Or tune it with a btm and afc like wd swears by but get it tuned this time by a person in person. did that make any sense
