Ka kills turbo cars

Ok so I was out at the races Sat night ended up running 3 diff cars and beat them all and i know i probly shouldn't have. Here the list and you tell me what you guys think.

94 civic hach 5 speed 8psi d16, 10mph roll to 115mph pulled about 1/2 car

95ish DSM FF turbo 5 speed motor stock raced 3 times from 25mph to 95ish pulled 1 1/2 cars

94 teg b16 5 speed 35mph roll to 95 had his bumper at my driver door

This is a 20k Ka i just swaped in my old motor didnt like 8000rpms(dont ask) and blew up so its pretty much new but mods are listed on my cardomain

Anyone think this sounds messed up? I do but its really cool that this new Ka is doing really well.

The d16 turbo, I can believe... I beat a 2 door with turbo (didnt hear any v-tec and Im sure it was turbo so I'm getting it was the D16 or the 1.5 one...) I had him from 20mph - 90 half a car length too.

The other 2, I dont know....

How do you uh.. "hear" V-TEC? As far as I know it doesn't do ANYTHING as far as adding any power, just making it so the gas milage doesn't suck at higher RPMs.

I thought it made more power by having a more agressive cam lobe in the camshafts activated at a higher rpm so that they don't loose what little torque they have at low rpm. I've seen plenty dangerous turbo vtecs and I'd be skeptical to think that a lightly modded ka would take one after around ~50mph. Also the 240sx speed limited sucks.

when it kicks in the engine noise changes and you can hear it. i havent really noticed it, and all my friends try to point it out to me

D16 with vtec? the sohc with vtec? i thought only b series motors came with vtec.

nope...most of the SOHC come v-tec...just doesnt say it on the valve cover. the sohc shouldnt even bother having vtec since it is pushiling like 115 hp. hahah

Calling BS I dont care i posted not to brag but to ask if this is that messed up.Most of the cars i have seen up at the shop i hang around at so i know alittle about them and yes a D16 can come with vtec

I didn't think most of you guys would belive me cuz some people that didn't see the race said BS til the owners of the other cars told them the same thing and few asked if i was spraying

vtec does add more power. it has a more aggresive 3rd lobe that engages at a certain rpm. more air is added by the bigger lobe and the computer sends more fuel in and thus making a big jump in power. vtec comes on a variety of honda motors including B18s. about the races... it could be anything. it could be bad drivers, ragged out cars, etc,.

vtec is one of the best inventions in history. It works really well and I've yet to see one break down with regular usage.

VTEC kicks in at 5500 RPMs in my 96, sohc, 4dr civic. It is very audible and is quite a kick in the pants. I Kind of miss it sometimes.

my freind with a 92 s13 with 3"cat and aftermarket filter wiht new clutch and nitto drag radials. He raced a ls, gsr from a stop and smoked them by at least car and a half i believe( this was 2 years ago and i havent seen the videos in a while) and then he raced a 1g eclipse auto turbo with a few mods on it and beat it by at least ( im going to say a car and a half but not for sure)

so i can beleive your story somewhat but i would of liked to see those races if you are for real about it

well i believer every word that he is saying. i personally beat a turbo'd eclipse at moroso. i had about a .3 reaction time and i beat him by a full second on the quarter mile. i am not turbo yet but he was. like it was said before, driver makes the difference.

It's possible for the turbo cars to have leaks on the intake side, or poor tuning, or even poor compression... it's not all that uncommon on cars this old.

have we sunk so low that now we discuss honda, civic, v-tech? the tragedy. the bottom line is a 240 can be faster than any honda.(maybe not the nsx) As far as your run the other night charlie240sxt, i'd say you did pretty good

for the record, every honda engine made in the last 15 or so years (except one, i believe) can come w/ or w/o vtec. B series, D series, H series, etc.

My friend has a non-vtec b18a1-t in his del sol, and i watched him spank a 98 eclipse gs-t that used spray, and a late 90's mustang gt 3 times saturday night.

Then again, I beat a 93 cobra in my N/A modified saturn last summer at the drag strip (got it on vidcam), and i snapped my shift cables when i went to 2nd, and I didn't have 2nd gear during the race. So I won't call BS, cuz anything is possible.

1st, i wouldnt consider a car's lenght "smoking him," and 2nd, i'd hope he beat him, he probably got a 4 car jump

thats an overstatement. any 240's break into the 7's? 8's? 9's?

best thing is to take it to the track and see how it really runs. get real numbers you can compare to. theres too many variables at the street races.

as far as im concerned hondas dont belong in the class as most of the other cars that would race in the class with the 240s maybe put them in with some geos or probes or something, i live in a small town and all the "cool" kids have civics most of the kids that r into this stuff have hondas as well theres a celica, old school supra, afew eclipes but 90% r hondas and 90% of those r civics with walmart parts and befor i got my 240 i would drive around in my moms 04 suzuki areo all stock auto blowing these what i call walmart hondas away left and right so i dont c what the big deal is with hondas civics mostly sorry for ramboling on but im board

if you just look at the vehicle by it self.. well from a designer and manufacturer's POV... Civics are nice cars. They are dependable and affordable and has a decent styling. Perfect for anybody.

Its just stupid kids like to rice out the civics and think they have the fastest car in the world... they give bad name to the car. If you look at Honda in general and forget about all the rice they build very nice cars and VTEC is a wonderful technology. It's just idiots like to say i got a VTEC and i will smoke your car or something like that.
