I prefer to go through 4-5 engines before I figure out that you need to add alot of fuel when you up the boost to 25 psi. But man, an RB makes a ton of power when it running on the ragged edge.

I finally decided to do things right, not that my wife complaining had anything to do with it...

I know thats right....my wife gave me hell for a long time to get things done right and stop dumping money into the thing...she likes it now, though. Whats that rb running? I thought about going to an rb. It was Sr at first...but i kind of want to do things differently. How hard is it to find parts and get the install done....oh wait...you drive a skyline, dont you?

My wife didn't mind until I was forced to leave an RB20 in the back of her SUV for a week cause I had no more room in my garage/laundry room.

I was putting down 498 hp to the wheels with 28psi and a ton of alcohol. All on a stock block and ECU. I was running 7.5/1 CR though. A complete dog in traffic, but get the engine near 4000 and by by. Of course I went through alot of clutches. Since I had to slip the clutch at 5500 to launch. It was the only way not to bog or spin out.

got another question. what compression would be good? also where can i find titanium valve springs, what site. i'll probably be getting most of my parts off the net. hopefully in about two months i'll ba bale to get started. i need to get my exhaust manifold so i can get it ported and polished so everything will match up. i already got the shop to do all my machine work. but i got a couple tickets to pay off and also about $2500 in credit cards, and with paying $200 every two weeks and still going to school its killing me. hopefully income tax will help out alot. my dad said whatever he gets back hes putting towards my credit cards so i can get them paid off and start on the engine. sometimes i hink hes more anxious to get started then i am. if anybody has any suggestion for me on parts, like internals and things my ears are open. thanks for all your help. when i get started ill probably be posting with pics as i go along. but again thanks for all the info so far, its been real helpful.

As far as titanium springs, i dont know, but the ti retainers can ba founf at Raceeng.com. Check out thier site, and is you dontsee what you need online...give them a ring. They have been great when i call with off the wall questions. By no means would i ever try to discourage an enthusiast, but if you are getting short on money, try the buy snd store method. Its been growing in popularity recently...basically, just buy something like pistons....and then set them in the closet...then valve springs, then retainers, the rods, then cam...and so on.....Thats what i did, and it helped to keep me on track with my project instead of bouncing from one idea of what to do on my car to the other.

I always started off planning like that. But Then I just went an bought everything under the sun...wife loves that to.

I love JE, I always have. They have good customer service as well as an excellent product. I would use them for the rods and pistons. The stock crank is forged, so I would just get it knifed and balanced.

The I/H/E should all go to Extrude hone a the same time. SO they can port the hell out of it and gasket match it perfectly. I'd also send in the compressor side of whatever turbine you decide on. They do fantastic work, thats been proven to make hp.

I know how it is with speeding tickets, when I first came in the USAF, 10 years ago, I bought a Formula 350. Well being from the Boston area, people drive like animals. Well that is a bit different then the way they drive in Pensacola FL. Not to mention they don't like us Yankee's down there to much. So the first 2 months I was there I got 3 speeding tickets, all of which were over 150 bucks.

yeah, i got one for speeding and one for racing right now, a total of about $400. but i usually average about 1 ticket a month, need to stop that huh? but i got a friend thats opening up a shop hopefully in the next month. ill probably be working for him a little. he wants me to do decal designing and some installs on the side. but him and all his people are mainly honda people, so they really dont know much about nissan. they wouldnt know a ka from a ca, so ill also be the nissan guy. but ill be getting paid for all the labor i do plus ill be able to get all my parts cheaper, then im gonna do what projex said and just store them all. but i already got the engine from my 95 240 (rest in peace) sitting in my garage taken apart. so i'll probably be biulding on it as i get the parts. wheres extrude located at? if they do that good of work i'll send it there. so what kind of compression would ya'll suggest?

I wish racing was only 400 bucks here...its 900 plus 30 MANDATORY. Plus your liscence gets suspended for 6 mos, and they impound your car...i live in South Carolina...the most *** backwards state there is( highest insurance premiums in the nation)

For high boost I always say go low, I would go down a full point to 8.5/1 compression pistons. Use a metal headgasket but keep it the same thickness as the stock one. I think the stock is 1mm. But I'm not 100% on that.

Go to http://www.extrudehone.com/ and click around till you find the automotive section. They also have a pricelist right on the site.

the racing ones only 159, the speeding one is 254. racing used to be alot more, around 500, but they brought it down for some reason. i dont know. what size pistons have ya'll found. i only found 1mm over from je. what all would i have to do to lower the compression?

i just checked out that site, theyre kind of expensive. i was gonna just take it to a machine shop near me that speacializes in high performance engines. they actually spend mst of their time biulding sprint cars and things like that. im also gonna get a custom made 4 point roll cage from them. i was thinking of haveing them do all the machine work, balancing and blueprinting. but if taking it to extrude is really worth it ill look more into it.

Extrude is the ****!!!

Stock size piston will work fine, just use forged ones. When you order them from say JE, just specify that you want them rated at 8.5/1 compression. Or whatever CR you decided to go with.
