Another member here on Nico, (Gwizz) recently sold his G35, and he liquidated some of the parts he had on it. I was able to pick up his JWT popcharger intake kit, and Z intake tube.

After some playing around, I ended up putting the Z tube on backwards (I think), and then putting the MAFS and filter on. I used a piece of hose to extend the breather tube. Then I used one of the brackets to bolt the MAFS to one of the stock airbox mounts.

At a later date I plan to figure out how to make the heat shield work as well.

All things considered, it worked out really really well, and I think it makes for a nice upgrade. The Z tube deletes all the expansion tanks, and simplifies the system.

Overall driving impressions are great. At idle, low throttle and cruising, there is absolutely no difference in noise, but at WOT you can really hear the engine breathing. Suddenly this boring family sedan sounds like a pissed off 350Z every time I tickle the go pedal. It felt like it might make a bit more power, but that could just be my imagination because it sounds so awesome. Hopefully the fuel economy shows some improvements as well.

If I didnt know any better, Id think I knew what I was doing.

I'll have to take a picture of my Frankentake that I built out of the AEM Dryflow I had laying around and a $12 intake adapter from Kragen. :dblthumb:

What's the benefit of removing the resonance chamber?

LOL..Nice! You pulled it off! Not sure how much of a difference the heatshield will make with that engine set up though. You may be able to get away with it as is. On the G/Z, the popcharger sits much closer to the engine, so the heat shield or an airbox like what Stillen has is a must.

Depending on how well someone knows their car, you may notice a slightly increased throttle response, but for sure the car sounds beastly at WOT! Glad you like it!

On a sidenote....I have one part left the MREV2 which I'll be letting go for $300 if anyone here knows of someone with a G or Z. It's a must have part and not a wearable item.

Sound I would imagine. In truth I have no idea.

The reason I wanted to use the Z tube was, 1 because it hadn't ever been tried, and 2 because the stock tube would not have worked. The factory intake is dead straight, and the filter is large enough that it wouldn't have fit. The Z tube has a nice little bend on one end that works perfectly to point the filter towards the headlight.

I like that you left the nose snorkel dealie intact for the potential supply of cooler air. The outlet's in the perfect spot to feed that cone filter. With the heat shield you'll probably be doing great.

Thats a great deal. Those z tubes are dirt cheap and to fit on the maxima's is awesome. Nice Job.

My thoughts exactly. I think I should be able to bridge the gap between the strut tower and the battery using the heat shield. This should effectively isolate the filter from much of the heat around the engine.
