The 5Zigen is badass. I think that I'm going to do a 5 lug swap and run the 27mm on my s13. With that offset, I should be able to have the 9" wheel in the rear, which will just look ****ing HARD. I'll put a 245mm tire on that and have a very stiff sidewall. 8" wide up front with 225mm sticky.

I really like the Centerline too, but have decided I want a wider wheel with a lower offset. If they had a lower offset, I would go with those for sure.

Ben, go with whatever the hell you like. I like the look of the Borbets personally, but I also like big butts and 80's rock, so take that for what it's worth.

I searched on here and saw someone saying that the stock 16" offset was 42, so I am going to believe them.

Repo, I was thinking of staggering the wheel's also with a 8" in front, 9" in rear. That'd be BA. I'm still just unsure of what offset I would rather go with..... :/

Ok yea I measured and it looks to be around 42mm. What I cant understand is when 27mm would set the wheel closer to the wheel-hub, how that would make them farther away from the car, ya know? Like, it looks like the farther up the numbers go, the more the wheel would sit away from the vehicle.

Wow. even mods get the "check the FAQ/use the search button" post.

FYI it's 40mm. and if you get them through wheeloptions by way of importhookup.com you can get them with wheels for less than 1300 shipped. ;)

and FYI, son, I did use the FAQ and search, which is how I found the 42mm thing (which was close to being right) and I just missed it on the FAQ I guess :pface

1300 w/ tires huh?? I'll have to check this place out. I thought about going staggered though....17"x8" front w/ like 235's, 17"x9" in the rear w/ 245's. I dunno. Maybe just 17"x8" all around...

Hey, buddy, I'm on your side. Not only do I think that telling them to check the FAQ instead of giving an answer is stupid because telling them the right size is just as easy (tell them that it's there after so they don't ask agian IMO) But I told you a cheap *** place to get them.

and they can upgrade your wheels to what ever sizes you want (and I hope you do the 8 & 9 set-up is sweet). The actual quote was $1140 for 17x7's, I just adjusted it mentally for you. ;)

Don't forget about tire rotation.Keeping them all the same size reall saves a lot of cash down the road.

Dane, I know I know. I thought about the whole rotation thing. I think I am going to go with a 17x8 setup all around.

Snarlynx, I emailed them about a quote for 17x8's, with no reply. Do you think I am just going to have to end up calling them? Thanks for that site by the way, it seems pretty cool (and cheap!).

Yeah, I'd call them. usually one gets a lot further that way.

and no problem, I'm sure there will be a time when you can hook me up with a cheap price for something. ;)

heh, I doubt it. But its a nice thought, thanks. :D

I got quoted from Vick a price of $1300 for the fn01rc's in 17x8 form with 235's in front and 245's in rear. :) I think I am going to try and get these soon. I know I wouldn't be able to rotate these, but Vick who I called and talked to was very very against me running 245's all around. Said they would NOT clear in the front. I know they will, I've seen it done. I think I might call back and try to convince him they do clear and to sell me 245's on all 4 wheels for the same 1300/shipped. What do you guys think?

It might not clear with that offset... why don't you get 235's all around that way you can rotate them? Seems to me if you're not running the same size tires all the way around, you might as well get 9 inch tires for the back.

Yah I know I thought about that too. After visiting freshalloy, talking to cnichols, etc, I found out I need to get different offsets for the front and rear for it to look correct, or whateva. We thought about 27 in the rear, 35 in the front. But then, the 8" wide part came in to play. So now I am thinking about 27mm all around w/ 17x8's and not real sure on what tire width. 245s probably. I would be able to rotate them, etc. So I am still researching.

let me know how it turns out. After reading all these posts on wheels and contact patches, I may just go with the biggest wheel I can rotate. SO yeah, let me know for sure. (see, told you you'd be able to help me) :)

heh. I am still trying to decide what to do. I think I am most likely going to go with a 27mm offset all around, 245's all around. Any objections? Grant?

I feel your pain, truly. I got the 5zigen fn01rc's in 17"x8" with 25mm offset in the rear (gonna get a 27, but said they didn't offer 27??), 35mm up front, 245/45-17's all around.

better run a 245-40 bro, a 245-45 is too tall. even better, run a 235-40-17!:)-chetplease tell me you meant you got a 25mm front and 35mm rear offset... also, why not keep offsets the same if wheel width is the same...it'd make a bit more sense(to me).

245/45 isn't too tall, my buddy runs it on his s14 and its fine. offsets are different because at least on fresh alloy, the offset for the rear needs to be a bit lower to run even with the body, or whatever you want to call it. I got the info. from a very knowledgable source, so I trusted him.

"fit fine" and "are fine" are two different things, a 245-45-17 is waaaay to tall. it wont handle right man. also, messing with the rear offset because :it fits flusher in the rear" is a really, really dumb way to choose an offset. you want to choose an offset to keep the weight line of the wheel correct relative to the suspension, and moving the wheel farther out on the rear is moving the bulk of the weight away from the suspension...a bad idea.

its your car, but just because some guy on fresh alloy tells you it fits more flush isnt the reason to get a lower offset in the rear, it only does a few things-you cant rotate the wheels-the suspension geometry relative to the wheel centerline is messed upBUt!-it looks more "flush"

the reason you run a lower offset on a tire is to keep that line of weight closer to the suspension geometry line(we discussed this a while ago..) and you have plenty of room in the rear, so moving the tire/wheel outward isnt necessitated by the suspension clearances.

if you can, re-order them+25 all around. seriously.-chet

You want to take it up with someone who knows what they are talking about and who I get my advice from then email cnichols. I can see your reasoning, and it makes sense, but so does his. And by to tall, are you talking about the tire/wheel height themself? No its not man, its not too tall at all. And I have heard no 'handling' problems with an offset similiar to this.....just email him if you think he's wrong. I'm not saying you are either, but its not like I take my car autoxing or drifting or something. I drive the car and have fun with it, but not in a raceing way. I take it to the 1/4 mile sometimes, thats about it. If it handles a little different, big deal.

from a gearing perspective, the OD is too high, and that sidewall will be a bit too high for good turn-in :)

Im just trying to help man...I didnt mean to offend you. Im just questioning the logic that went into that wheel/tire selection.

in the end, its your car. if you're happy, whatever I say doesnt really matter :)-chet

Thanks, that makes me feel better, seriously. I totally understand where you are coming from, but I dont think it would matter *that* much for the way I drive the car, etc. ya know?

And thats what I figured you were talking about in the height thing, the gearing, speedo, etc. My speedo doesn't even work right now anyway (long story) so that doesn't matter a whole lot :)
