Yup, thats right. I've spent the last 3yrs amassing all this friggin knowledge about the dang thing and I'm finally getting one! They said that it should ship today (friday) and that I should have it in 5-7 business days. I'm hopeing to have it by the end of next week, but we'll see. How long did it take other ppl who've ordered stuff from Venus to get thier stuff? Anyway, I'll keep you all updated on how it's going. And yes, you can congtatulate me now. hehehe.

Sean-we don't need your mindless banter here, so take it elsewhere. hehehe, JK man!

Mike-They shipped it today (Friday) and so I'm hoping to recieve it Friday too. I think I'm closer than you, so I should have it then too. Now if I just had an interior for my car..... LOL!

Sean- I need the whole drivers side door panel. The stupid carpet stuff peeled loose. It has to be for one with manual windows and locks. I may need some other stuff too, but I have to wait till Mike (spec-v) sends me the stuff I'm getting from him and see what I still need.

J-Spec- Dude, I didn't think you ever came over to the CA forums. Glad to see you bridging the gap! hehehe.

just because i have a SR doesn't mean i dont have mad love for the CA :D

plus i might pick up a s12 for like $200, yank the decrepid, 99hp CA20E autostick motor out and shove in a CA18DET and manual transmission.

float:how much did you pay for your parts and what did they include?and how much was shipping?

How is the reputation of venus auto? I don't want to spend more than $1500 for the complete parts of a CA shipped to me, and it seems that jspecauto and flashoptions have been getting mixed reviews so i was just wondering how venus is compared to them.

thanks

good luck finding that kind of deal anymore...maybe 6 months ago, but I'd say the going rate for CA motorsets is $1600 plus shipping...I think float got his for $1400 plus $300 shipping because he had a business license?

I'm willing to wait and save up a lil extra money, but there are, however, a coupla of quesions I need to ask:1) what are some reputable places to get CAs? Or rather, where do most of the CA folks get their motors?2) the CA motors are older and how much maintenance do they need (in terms of $) once I get the motor?3) what kind of mounts should I use forCA -> s14 240sx

I paid $1750 shipped for a motorset from Venus, that's $1500 + $250 shipping. It came with radiator, i/c, and most of the i/c piping...but that's only because they told me it did from day one, then decided it didn't the day they shipped it. It also came with a dented oil pan and broken transmission plate. Their motors are usually in good shape, with a few rare exceptions, but they're usually good about correcting mistakes. On the other hand, their customer service is HORRIBLE and extremely unprofessional unless you can go to their shop in person.

in response to the maintenance question: pay close attention to the bearings, especially the con rod "big end" bearings. It might be worthwhile to replace them while the engine is out of the car. I tore the whole engine apart, and am in the process of rebuilding it. I think all the basic maintenace parts cost like $350 or so...never really totalled it up.

I'd say the majority of people have gone through venus...but a big problem with CA's is that there aren't many places to order from, and the ones you can order from (like Venus) have quality issues...
LiU wrote:2) the CA motors are older and how much maintenance do they need (in terms of $) once I get the motor?

Expect to put in new main bearings, rod bearings, and all engine gaskets. Luckily parts from the CA18DE pulsar motor are completely interchangable so just order a gasket set from Nissan, and you'll be set! (also check the crossover parts sticky)
LiU wrote:3) what kind of mounts should I use forCA -> s14 240sx

the same mounts you'd use to put an s13 SR into an S14... I don't have an s14, but its exactly the same process as putting an s13 SR in!(but the wiring is 10x easier!)

good luck and make sure to search the archives...there's a ton of CA info here (I'd say we have some of the best CA info anywhere in the archives:D) so make use of it!

Sorry for not replying guys/gals. I was busy all this weekend and have been at the comp. Regardless Sean summed it all up pretty well. I'll take pics when I get the clip so everyone can see it.

Liu, I noticed that you live in atlanta. I got my ca18det with 96,000km from NAD Auto in norcross and payed 1400. My friend josh got his ca18det with 151,000km from Jarco in canton and payed 1650 with complete LSD rear end. We are doing motor swaps. ** http://www.drift-racing.com **. I would love to do the swap.

Thanks, kirt

I'm in atlanta and am interested in this NAD Auto place..do they have a website? I have spoken w/ jarco about buying one but they say they hardly ever get them in stock(actually i think that one was the only one they sold).

Sorry for the hijack.

LOL, it's Ok, I hijack threads all the time. I was JK. I was going to get mine from Jarco too, but they told me the same story. I got my silvia conversion from them and I was very pleased with their service, they just don't seem to have much intrest in carring the CA, which is sad, cuz I had the cash in hand for it. Oh well Venus got my money and I'll have the clip tommorrow. *crosses fingers*

The web site is http://www.nadauto.com. There is a CA18DET on the way. It should be here next month. It is a front clip and that was the only info the owner gave me. He did not know if it is a auto or manual and he has no price on it. The owner said he would call me when he gets more info.

IT'S IN!!!! I GOT THE CLIP TODAY!!!. I don't have a digital camera or anything, but I'll try and get some pic posted. It wasn't as clean as I would have liked, and they kinda chopped up the rubber going into the throttle body, but I've already got a FMIC coming, so I'm not real worried about it. They also bent the throttle control linkage thing, but I'm going to switch out the thottle bodies anyway. It's also got HICAS wich is going to be a pain in my ***, but I have a SOHC, so I knew I was going to have problems with the p/s lines anyway. I'm hoping to get it running in the clip tonight to make sure everything is alright. It did have a spedo in it, but I don't know if it's the right one. If it is it had more miles than I expected. (165,444km) But even if it is right, it's still got 100,000 miles less than the motor thats in the car right now. I'm going to check the turbo out tonight. Hopefully it's in good shape. I have the opportunity to purchase an S14 Turbo for $500. I'll prob get it regardless. I know the stock T25 is kinda infamous for crapping out. Anyway, I'm excited and I'll keep you all updated...
