What's so hard about installing a rear in your Q? There are less than 20 nuts & bolts to remove and installation is the same. Do it yourself and save money!maxwell867 wrote:was up james. Where are you getting your rearend work done. Looking for a shop to install 4.08 rear in a 96q
NJB Auto in Hewlett ask for Bruce tell him james sent u 516-295-0646he is pretty adept w/ the Q been doing all my work for pasr 3.5 yearsmaxwell867 wrote:was up james. Where are you getting your rearend work done. Looking for a shop to install 4.08 rear in a 96q
Not if your swapping in the skyline diff!!!!!rsiwicki wrote:PopPop....while doing a R&R on a rearend is relatively simple, the problem is swaping in a 4.08 gear for the 3.54 which definitely requires a very skilled driveline mechanic to set up the conversion.
Only a skilled & trained mechanic can properly setup a 4.08 for the Q45!!!!

James, can you tell a difference over your old ECU?
Wes...sometimes I just want to b_tch slap you but I have the feeling that you will be choking on black soot from my old cars exhaust soon enoughelwesso wrote:Not if your swapping in the skyline diff!!!!!
Yes, but that is NOT installing the differential into the car, which is what i was referring to!!! And, you said about installing the 4.08 R/P into the Q45 case, which is not what I was talking about.... Depending on james' experience, i may do the whole thing myself... Regardless, if I spend $500 on a diff, and $100 on having the flange installed PROPERLY (I have a used flange from my old diff, or worst case $95 for a new one), im still going to be WAY MORE ahead of the 4.08 race than you . hell, even if we just look at "round 1 of Rob's 4.08", im pretty close!rsiwicki wrote:Wes...sometimes I just want to b_tch slap you but I have the feeling that you will be choking on black soot from my old cars exhaust soon enough
Still you need a trained mechanic to swap over the input flange and torque thngs correctly for the skyline swap. Otherwise if it is so damn easy go get yourself a skyline diff for $300 and do the swap yourself.
Just give her an ECU!RobertsnewQ wrote:Gotta put in some wife time, if you know what I mean
I number them, and I'm up to no. 33. That includes a couple for myself and does not include the first three or four.Q45tech wrote:How many have you done so far? Just when I was starting to talk up the possiblities with a few T3 customers.
Did you find out how much power her car dyno'd with the NICO ecu?mattd1979 wrote:All I can say is that I could tell a difference in power between my car and my mom's from just how much faster her car would accelerate. When put next to mine, her's would rip mine a new one. I ended up having them both dyno'd and found that her car was getting 25 more horse power then mine and her's has the stock ecu. My car was set on power level 3 during the third and final run. Her car out performed my car all 3 runs. I swapped my NICO ecu with her's and did not notice any change in power. That is why I posted this to determine if it is my ECU. I've also noticed that I seem to have more power in stock mode then when set to level 3. I am just trying to narrow things down.
