Awesome. On Friday I ordered these rotors (the ones for the m35) and they are supposed to ship today.M45Caliber wrote:funny you should ask -- I dropped in to see my friend/neighbor/mechanic buddy yesterday as there's a kick-a** Mex joint near his shop that I dig for lunch. I mentioned that the brakes are actually BETTER than ever and I must be wearing the crap out of the pads as this thing stops so freaking good now.
He popped the car up on his rack and pulled one front and one back wheel and we looked at the rotors and pads. He was amazed as there is no discernable wear on either and I now have almost 5K miles on them (2 trips out to Cali this summer).
They are still as smooth as a baby's arse when applying the pedal and tractor beam strong. This was the best thing I've done to a car in a LONG time. Couldn't be happier. And this during a summer that has been VERY hot and taxing on brakes, for sure.
It looks like you have the non-slotted? That's what may be the difference.M45Caliber wrote:No noise whatsoever -- although my rotors must be a different part number as they are for a Y34 M45. I have new tires as well and have had this up north of 100 recently and quiet as a church mouse at all speeds. With the new tires this thing is eerily quiet at 100+.
InfinitiMe - about to pull the trigger on the same setup as you have (I think). Power Slot Cryo and Hawk HPS all around for my 06 M45 - are you still having the loud noise upon braking. Would really appreciate your input before spending the money....InfinitiMe wrote:It looks like you have the non-slotted? My car now makes a really irritating, loud howl at various speeds. At about 45 and 60 it's not too noticeable. At 80 it's pretty loud.
And at any speed below or above that there is now this constant sound that is very similar to what loud tires sound like...and I know it's not them because I got them in march (bridgestone potenzas) and never heard a peep until after I got my car back from the dealership to install the brakes and get a 30k mile service. I'm praying that the dealership f'ed up on the 30k mile service and that's what's causing this sound. If it's the brakes I'm going to be really disappointed. The performance is awesome but I used to be able to drive my car and hear pretty much nothing. Now i hear howling and this loud-tire-like noise at all times unless my music is up. It's not enjoyable. But it seems like it is being caused by vibration of air in the "slots" of the slotted rotors.

Put 35K miles on the Power Slot Cryo rotors and Hawk HPS - enjoyed the heck out of them. Appreciate the recommendation. The bite isn't what it used to be and I think it is time to replace the fronts at the very least. Dealer and a few local shops tell me I still have plenty of life on the brake pads and the rotors look decent, but I lack the confidence in stopping power I once had.M45Caliber wrote:I can't comment on the slotted rotor/noise question, but I can say that after OVER 16,000 miles, a HOT Arizona summer, some mountain driving and TWO Track Days where I drove (and braked) like I stole it, these brakes are as solid as the day I installed them. NO warpage and still over 50% pad life left. I repeat - the best upgrade I've ever done to any car. After two track days with these brakes I can assure you that the ONLY reason to go with drilled or slotted is for the looks. Good luck with your decision.
It can be one of two things:babun wrote:I just installed DBA rotors and HAWK HPS pads on all 4 wheels on my infiniti m35x.
Now when i brake, i feel the car veering to the right a little.
What could cause this ?
(I assume you are just joking here, right?wingFeather wrote:Well, the name of the product is "Frozen" - so it'd make sense that something is stuck and wearing down too fast. Frozen brakes are never good LOL
How hot was it on June 28th there? When it's 100+F ambient, you aren't going to have the same stopping power you had when temperatures were lower. That's my experience anyway (more stopping power in the morning while it's cooler).kmk786 wrote:Put 35K miles on the Power Slot Cryo rotors and Hawk HPS - enjoyed the heck out of them. My question to you is how long did you go prior to changing them out and did you stick with the same setup?
