No noise whatsoever -- although my rotors must be a different part number as they are for a Y34 M45. I have new tires as well and have had this up north of 100 recently and quiet as a church mouse at all speeds. With the new tires this thing is eerily quiet at 100+.

I mentioned that the brakes are actually BETTER than ever and I must be wearing the crap out of the pads as this thing stops so freaking good now.

He popped the car up on his rack and pulled one front and one back wheel and we looked at the rotors and pads. He was amazed as there is no discernable wear on either and I now have almost 5K miles on them (2 trips out to Cali this summer).

They are still as smooth as a baby's arse when applying the pedal and tractor beam strong. This was the best thing I've done to a car in a LONG time. Couldn't be happier. And this during a summer that has been VERY hot and taxing on brakes, for sure.
Awesome. On Friday I ordered these rotors (the ones for the m35) and they are supposed to ship today.

It looks like you have the non-slotted? That's what may be the difference.

My car now makes a really irritating, loud howl at various speeds. At about 45 and 60 it's not too noticeable. At 80 it's pretty loud.

And at any speed below or above that there is now this constant sound that is very similar to what loud tires sound like...and I know it's not them because I got them in march (bridgestone potenzas) and never heard a peep until after I got my car back from the dealership to install the brakes and get a 30k mile service. I'm praying that the dealership f'ed up on the 30k mile service and that's what's causing this sound. If it's the brakes I'm going to be really disappointed. The performance is awesome but I used to be able to drive my car and hear pretty much nothing. Now i hear howling and this loud-tire-like noise at all times unless my music is up. It's not enjoyable. But it seems like it is being caused by vibration of air in the "slots" of the slotted rotors.

Slotted rotors have a characteristic sound when braking that is quite different from solid rotors. I don't know how to describe it other than to say that it is a bit of a "whine" rather than a "scrape".

Usually, it is not louder than standard rotors though.

So, I am not sure what is happening with your car ... may be worth a trip to a brake specialist or your dealer to take a look at it.

Hi,I posted my q in another thread but have no replies yet. Hopefully this thread is already talking about rotors, so maybe ppl will have an answer to my question below :

"Hi,I need to replace my pads and rotors and was looking at different threads and discussions for the same.I do not need rotors for the appearance factor, so buying cross drilled ones just for that purpose is not my intention.

I got quotes on DBA 4000 series rotors and HAWK HPS pads and as I am based in CANADA they are a little higher than the US.

What I was wondering is, for day to day driving do these rotors and pad combos make a difference?

I am getting OEM replacements (from InfinitypartsUSA) for about 350 all inclusive, whereas the DBA + HAWK combo is costing me about 600 more.

Any thoughts would be helpful."

Thanks

Hi all,

I just installed DBA rotors and HAWK HPS pads on all 4 wheels on my infiniti m35x.

Now when i brake, i feel the car veering to the right a little.

What could cause this ?

I also thought i heard some whistling / screeching sound from the right side last night intermittently. It was on for a few secs when stalled, but then was not there today morning.

IS it something wrong with the brake assembly or installation ?

TIA

that's typically a binding caliper. I'd look into that. After driving for a few miles -- check to see if the right front wheel is hotter that the rest -- careful when you touch it. Or use an infrared temp gauge that you aim at the weels/rotors and take readings that way.

InfinitiMe - about to pull the trigger on the same setup as you have (I think). Power Slot Cryo and Hawk HPS all around for my 06 M45 - are you still having the loud noise upon braking. Would really appreciate your input before spending the money....

I can't comment on the slotted rotor/noise question, but I can say that after OVER 16,000 miles, a HOT Arizona summer, some mountain driving and TWO Track Days where I drove (and braked) like I stole it, these brakes are as solid as the day I installed them. NO warpage and still over 50% pad life left. I repeat - the best upgrade I've ever done to any car. After two track days with these brakes I can assure you that the ONLY reason to go with drilled or slotted is for the looks. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for the reassurance M45Caliber. Just bit the bullet on the Power Slot Cryo with Hawk HPS.....hope I have the same experience as you :bigthumb: .....

FYI - for anyone else out there looking to upgrade frozenrotors.com offers 15% discount if you replace all four rotors and 10% for two. I purchased mine via autoanything.com - prices were a bit lower with free shipping and additional 10% off - google for most current code.

Put 35K miles on the Power Slot Cryo rotors and Hawk HPS - enjoyed the heck out of them. Appreciate the recommendation. The bite isn't what it used to be and I think it is time to replace the fronts at the very least. Dealer and a few local shops tell me I still have plenty of life on the brake pads and the rotors look decent, but I lack the confidence in stopping power I once had.

My question to you is how long did you go prior to changing them out and did you stick with the same setup?

It can be one of two things:

1. As was mentioned above too: sticking caliper pin on the right (most likely). Did the caliper pins get properly cleaned and regreased (with the correct formulation of high-temp silicone grease) when the rotors/pads were changed?

2. Poor pad bedding on the left rotor or a slight leak on the left causing brake fluid to coat the rotor and reducing friction. Yeah, "left" ... that is why right might be braking better and car veers to that direction because the left pad does not grip as hard.

Well, the name of the product is "Frozen" - so it'd make sense that something is stuck and wearing down too fast. Frozen brakes are never good LOL

(I assume you are just joking here, right? :chuckle:)

I am sure you already know this (so please don't take this explanation from me wrong! :)) The "Frozen" simply refers to the cryogenic freeze/thaw cycle that they put the rotor through ... to treat the iron in that process for what they believe makes a better rotor. The normal temperature after that is just that ... "normal" (i.e., air temp when cold, and hot when braking). :)

How hot was it on June 28th there? When it's 100+F ambient, you aren't going to have the same stopping power you had when temperatures were lower. That's my experience anyway (more stopping power in the morning while it's cooler).
