Must you remind me? I've been putting off the wisdom teeth for 10 years, scared as hell... :(

Are you sure they need to be pulled? I have mine and I plan on keeping it that way.

absessed tooth! yargh those suck, had one pulled a few months ago, good lord do they hurt, I was happy to have a big needle shoved into my gums! then have it yanked out with pliers only to have it hit the back of my tongue and fall down my throat:D

man did I feel better after having that sucker yanked! (haha, there's a line to use out of context...)

i had all four of mine taken out. i iced that like a mofo for like 8 hours straight the moment i got home! i had a dance 3 days later too. no puffing :) as long as you ice that as much as you can. swelling/pain shouldnt be too bad. having a numb cold face is better than having a puffy cheek for a homecoming picture :)

I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled December 4th/03. 3 of them were impacted, only one was pushed through. For the surgery, i got put under with gas, so when i woke up it was all done. My mouth bled pretty good for the first 8 hours or so, probably because i wasn't given any gauze for my mouth.

The only complaint i have is that the doctors didn't stitch my mouth back together properly, so my stitches fell out within a few days and all 4 of my teeth holes became infected. After 2 weeks of the most pain of my life (i went through two bottles of tylenol 3's) and TONS of antibiotics, my mouth finally healed. The pain was unreal though, more than you could imagine. I'd wake up from sleep every 3 hours and almost cry from the pain, i couldn't eat anything either for those 2 weeks. And because of the infection, i had the worst taste in my mouth.

My only advice: don't let your gums get infected. Take proper care and return to the dentist a week later for a check up.

I thought about seeing a dentist(haven't been since I was 15, now 20) b/c it was jabbing into my gums and all but after some more growing of them coming in its like my mouth has adjusted although from time to time when I bite down into food or chew gum my teeth will leave imprints into my gums. Not a good feeling but I don't like dentist.

I figure since they don't bother me like they did they can stay in.

Bad idea! I thought the same, but when i went to the dentist he said i HAD to get them removed. He explained that just because they didn't bother me didn't mean they weren't doing damage. Because they were impacted (inside my gums) they were pushing all my teeth forward, and if i wouldn't have gotten them removed, they would've ended up pushing a few of my teeth right out of my mouth. I'd really recommend to ANYONE to get it checked out, all they do is take an x-ray.

get the syringe thing that shoots water into where your teeth used to be. food gets lodged in there and with the water itll knock it loose. good thing mine didnt get infected after hearing that :(
