It is one of my goals in life to try to reduce the number of used cars that are purchased in the World WITHOUT A COMPLETE PAID to an independent expert on that brand A $75-$100 PREBUY INSPECTION!

So many poor people are made poorer than necessary. So many new car owners are not punished for bad behavior by reducing the value they are paid for their used cars. Thus they get no reinforcement to be good [maintenance] for the next owner.

A smart non expert in the model would frequently be better off in paying $1,000 for 10 different inspections than to leave it to luck and their own senses.

We see 50+ prebuys per year and reject much more than half as needing significant work vs the asking price.

OK, new tires and an competent Hunter balance and alignment will help.

Two cautions: Don't go cheap on the tires or off brand. Meet the OEM minimum specifications.

Do get a competent expert installer to mount and balance the tires. If you use Tire Rack many of their installers are a grade above the minimum wage guys at the large discounters.

The second gear shift at light load and low rpm is a known issue. Check on GQJay's posts in Infiniti Online Mechanic Forum.

The point about the service history is later is better than never, but not as good as before. So get it.

Quote »By the way, you guys on this forum are much more civilized that the folks on some other boards. There was this joke I saw on another board about how many posts it takes to answer a question. It was pretty funny. I'll see if I find the link. Later....[/quote]Here's that link I mentioned...By the way I got new tires and the car runs much better. Haven't driven it much lately (I park it in the garage and have to play musical cars to get it out). Great advice guys! Now to find another key and a remote....
