Yep.

I got mine from a high school kid....I have this very sneaky suspicion that he drifted with it.....electrical tape over the headlights and turn signals......:)

would it matter if he drifted with it? does the car feel like it was abused?

No, the weird thing is, it drives like a dream.

I guess it doesn't matter THAT much....

holy misinformation and initial d fapping!

20v's ARENT trd motors.. ae111 blacktops are beyond overpriced. you can find a ae101 silvertop 20v full front clip very easily for around $1K-1.2K. keep your stock transmission, and use everything else. its relitively straight forward, everything bolts up.

power doesnt lose drivability in those cars, not one bit. you can also swap in a ae101 4agze. venus auto has the 1/2 cut levins for 1K. 170hp and a buttload of torque. the 20v pales in comparison to even the usdm 4agze.

ae86's are very slow cars, they have 112hp stock, and sub 100 ft/lbs. they're very well designed engines, and dont take well to bolt ons. any real power requires a swap, or cracking open the engine. 150 CRANK hp is heavily modded in the 16v 4age world.

s13's are a better option.. WAY more power, and more potential. dont get me wrong, the ae86 is nice, and handles beautifully, but its old as hell, and slow... besides, the mki mr2 handles better and is cheaper. you can get a wonderful supercharged mki mr2 for the price of a beat up old ae86.

nice buy on the ae86 tho. they're extremely fun cars, and the factory lsd is a nice addition.. its just not gods gift to man, or drifting.

NAZI!!!!!!!! Thats it leave, we're all communists here. :D I didnt know the 4age motor wasnt that easy to get power from. do the JDM 86s come with more HP stock or is it the same? I'd love to pick one up to just tear apart and build up.

^ jdm comes with 120-130hp, because of different timing/iginition maps. later comes with 140 (small port high comp). all are very difficult to get ANY power out of.

if you want a 4age to pull apart, go to a junk yard. theres a bazillion 4age powered cars.

A friend of mine had an '86 AE86 GT-S color blue. She was a sweet car. He loved her but he sold her for 3500 to buy an Impreza RS 2.5

She was a neat car and drifted like a dream. Someday I want to find a Hachi. But they are almost impossible to find now. (I'm sure Initial D had something to do with that..)

With a car like that, do you REALLY need all that power? I'd be more into getting suspension and tires.

all that power? no, for most cases you dont need some super high powered beast.. but come on.. 112hp and sub 100ft/lbs? thats just sad! no offence to the ae86 or 4age... they have potential, but they're piss slow stock.

definatly, the car is so small and reltivly light that power isnt that big of a concern IMO. It seems like it would be a good beginers car to learn drifting on.

they're not that small.. a bit smaller than s13's.. and they definately arent light enough to justify 112hp. i think they weigh in at 2300-2400.. which is a nice weight once you get some more power.

http://www.club4ag.com check it out.

ae86s DONT drift well stock. they really really need new suspension. they did get a headstart, as almost all got stock LSD's. i could drift my mk1 mr2 just as good as my friend could drift his stock ae86... once he upgraded, drifting was stable.

the fact is, they arent gods gift. they're better autox cars than drift cars... most serious ae86'ers are autox guys.

from driving both, i feel that the s13 is a superior drift car.

Have you read the article about the guy in Japan who built a GT car using the 86. he put in over $100k in just suspension. and he used one of the Atlantic racing TRD motors. he had it making 260hp at 11000RPMs, then dropped it down to 210 at 9000RPMs i believe. didnt drift it, used it just for road racing and it was a beast.

Love the wheels, my personal favorites are SSR MKII's. I don't think many people here have an appreciation for the rare wheel ^^ Besides, anythings better than baby Supra's on 86's haha.
