Man, I am jealous. my brother has been looking for one for a while now. almost flew out to a couplea places to pick some up but they always sold too fast. now he seems to be giving up.:( I'd look for one myself, but I'm pretty happy with my s13. When you decide to sell it in a few months let me know and I'll have my brother fly out and buy it from you. :)

Really? Awesome, I'll keep your bro in mind Eklectrick....I'm just worried about once the odometer reaches 300k miles....I'm scared it won't retain its value in a couple of years, but I've heard that it's actually still going up. Weird.

Nah, I like the 4AGE....too much power in a hachi makes it lose driveability.....

its like 10 extra hp > and its a 4AGE

Editok ok so maybe its 150 claimed and 160 claimed but realworld crank is supposedly lower (140 actual) versus 130 or so

Oh crap, my bad, I keep thinking the 20v is the TRD super engine that came in the AE111....oh wait, yeah it is....ok well it runs 160 stock, but I don't wanna swap out my redtop yet.....

the TRD engine is the "same" motor, kinda. its the same motor with about $10,000 worth of work. drop in a 4AGZE 20v, that'll be fun to drive.

you guys talk like these rare toyota engines come a dime a dozen and that they're simple drop ins. not the case for a 4agze. if you want a direct conversion, you'll need a ae86 levin clip from japan (supercharged of course). that costs $$$. the cheaper, yet harder route will be a more attainable fwd s/c clip or an mr2sc clip. the 2 last options will have you doing extra work because those engines are in a fwd configuration (buying new or custom fabbing header, intake mani, water piping, s/c hanger etc...)

stick with your stock redtop for now. it has plenty of power. if you're wanting to do a swap, i'd say a 20 valve would be your best option for cost to performance/ease of installation. just make sure you have the smog hookups ;) .

you can pm me if you want more info about this or other swaps.

I know about the 20v TRD motor. its not a simple find at a junk yeard, its a racing motor designed for atlantic racing. the 20v itself comes in only the FWD cars. so either way, a 20v 4AGE or 4AGZE is going to be a pain to install.and they dont cost that much to pick one up. and even if you want a 16v 4AGZE, they came in the AE92s, also FWD.

http://www.jspec.com can do anykind of special order you want for parts, but they wont do engines. You can get special order engines from Jarco, cause they have a dude in japan that hand picks the motors for their company only.

i havent heard too much about them that is bad, but the pics of their engine yard looks like just piles of motors, no real quality clips.

i love old toyotas, new ones just suck *** in my opinion (with the one exception of the MR2)

It seems the only way to find a good 86 is to get one from a old person that just used it as a beater.
