If an engine is really that sludged up I would pull apart the engine and clean it myself. While it is apart is a good time to replace all the parts needed for a full engine rebuild. Killing 2 birds with one stone in this case.

Thats not that bad of an idea..... However, I might disagree unless you have a lot of time...

I guess if everything else isnt worn, might as well.....

no way to relaibly rebuild a Q45 engine DIY unless one has say $500K in machine tools etc. to work with like a Formula 1 engine shop.

Dropping the pan, doing the timing chains OK. Valve job-?? Send the heads to Faerman Racing in Houston (or equivalent) who routinely do 5 angle valve jobs as well as special work for racing folks.
