My SR is finished as of last night. After many 5am-10pm days of working on my baby, she is done. Lots of qwerky wiring issues, and little problems along the way, but nothing too bad.

Proud to say that all of the work was done by me including wiring, and nothing feels better than swapping your engine, and taking it for that first drive. I will post pictures tonight when I get home.

I got the engine from JGY Customs http://www.jgycustoms.com in Southern VA and let me say those guys are awesome! Jason and Shaun put up with my daily phone calls and questions and always tried to help where they could. The engine was clean, nicely packaged, not dented anywhere, and the whole process was quick and painless. Motor started fine the first time and has been running strong for the first 200 miles. Anyone looking for a swap from a reputable company who cares about Nissan's and aren't trying to screw you over, give these guys a call.

Thanks again Jason and Shaun!

[EDIT] Here's a list of what I swapped in... - Stock S13 Redtop SR20DET- Greddy V-SPL FMIC- HKS SSQ BOV- HT Hot Pipe- Greddy DP- Apex'i N1 Turbo catback(on the way)- Joe P MBC- Autometer 52mm Boost and Oil Pressure gauges

I think they do. Shaun is on this board a lot [pampadori]....

No it's a complete motorset not a clip, I don't know of many who include smic and piping with a motorset. Usually that is a bonus. I'd say get a FMIC, if you can't afford it then the swap isn't a good idea, b/c it's going to cost you.

Everything you would expect was included and in great condition I might add. Uncut Harness, MAFS, Igniter Chip, Motor, p/s pump, undented oil pan, turbo had almost no shaft play, etc...

I can't wait till I get off work so I can go drive around some more. It's like owning a brand new car. As soon as clutch is broken in I'm gonna crank up the boost to like 12-14psi and then I'll really be smiling.

unfrgivn, that's good news. Sometimes it seems there is a lack of good shops/parts suppliers out there. But it good to hear that JGY Customs is a good group to work with.

I purchased my CA from them a few months ago.... it looks decent from the outside..... although i was nicely surprised to find a 3 puck clutch and lightened flyhweel when the transmission was taken off..... I waited about a month or so and bought all the extra upgrades i'd need to actually put it in and when it was time to put it in, I took off the oil pan to get the dents out and WOW!!! never seen a bottom end more shiny...no gunk....nothing absolutely spotless.... anyhow.... I put it in a couple weeks ago and got it running recently....man this thing spanks just about anything that trys and plays w/ me..... 2 GT's in one night.... But back to the thread...... JGY were great to deal with and help setup pickup dates and hold my engine for me. I'd definately reccommend them if your lookin for a good nissan shop.

Take it easy-Rick

Yea they were extremely flexible and willing to work with me. I told them my goals and they hooked me up with everything I needed. I would definitely rank them up there in the top with HT and Phase2 as far as quality and care. They are just 2 guys who love nissans like us (although mostly FWD applications, there still Nissans :D ). I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and fast the whole motor buying process was. I have heard of people waiting months for an SR. I called ordered all my parts, and 10 days later when my intercooler kit and bov had arrived, they shipped my motor out and I had it 2 days later. They worked real hard to get me my stuff by the date I needed it.

I just got off the phone with Jason, very nice guy to work with. I ordered a complete motorset and some other goodies. They're just waiting to get a wiring harness for me, and then they'll ship everything out to me. Can't wait. :D

Strange, they must find a harness to send out with your motor? I would have thought the motors still had their own respective harnesses with them when they are pulled.

Most shops don't give you everything from the same car. These motors come from junked cars and some have good running engines, but someone already snagged the harness, ecu, igniter chip, etc... That's why people often get ECU's from a blacktop when they have a redtop and vice versa. What if the cleanest SR in Japan was in a car which already had it's harness and ecu removed? Would you not want it b/c the motor company would have to get the harness and ecu from another car? Also when they are shipped from Japan they usually put all of the motors together and throw all of the elctronics and harnesses into separate crates.

Also companys sell parts from clips and complete sets in order to fill orders faster. If you needed a new igniter chip, shops will usually pull one from a complete set if there are no extras and then buy another chip for the set. That way you get your stuff right away and everyone is happy.

Not that "strange" after all.

UPDATE: I just recieved my motor today from JGY. Everything looks good, the engine is pretty clean. I got scared when I saw the CAS was smashed, but then when I opened the box for the Greddy downpipe, I realized they had used that box to pack the hotpipe and a new(er) CAS along with the ECU and MAFS. The JGY guys have been good people to deal with. The only thing missing from the motorset that I noticed was the ignitor chip, but I'll have to wait till they get back from NOPI till I can have that problem resolved. Overall, I'm very pleased with my motor and I'm sure they'll help me out with the missing ignitor chip as they have previously on some other issues.
