If this needs to go to general chat, feel free to move it.

So I just saw an autozone commercial with Jesse James in it. That is really surprising to me. I really can't see him ever shopping there, but that is besides the point. What I want to know is if anybody out there knows what is the original year/make/model of the hotrod he is driving. Its dragging its fat booty on the ground. Anyways, Im sure there aren't too many hotrodders on this site, but if you know, shout it out.

Jesse's primered bomb is a 49-51 Mercury.

Chopped, channelled, shaved, nosed, decked, primered and bagged.

I know he's gotta get paid and all, but Autozone? Oh well, at least his stuff doesnt look like it has anything to do with Autozone.

Millions? Is Monster Garage making that much (wouldn't really surprise me)? But I don't think he got that much from the Motorcycle Manias.

Thats like seeing Hitman shopping at Advance Autoparts...

He coulda done a NAPA or Carquest commercial...

yea, i read an article in car & driver about jesse james and it said that he was making pretty good money off of monster garage. says he doesnt even like doing the show, he just does it for the money. and they just finished filming the 3rd motorcycle mania so i bet he got something from that. and on top of all that he is selling bikes at WCC for a much higher price than it costs to make do to all his publicity

Hey, I've bought stuff from Autozone. Where do you think everyone uses their old 240SX cores to get Z32 calipers? ;)

Anyway, at least the Autozone thing is 1 million times cooler than that damn OCC/AOL commercial. I think AOL "Topspeed" is actually powered by the noxious wind from Satan's ***.

my buddy says its a 51 merc coupe.. but i dont know anything about those old cars except that i like to look at them.

So what if jesse sold out?? I think he is probably alot smarter than anyone gives him credit. In 1 year this entire chopper fad will be done with (for the general public at least). Right now he has 2 tv shows, autozone commercials, tons of merch, AND an amazing custom bike shop. he cashes in now and goes back to building bikes, not a bad 15minutes.

I read in an online interview that Jesse said it was a 49. Like the one that James Dean drove in "rebel without a cause"

If you want to know more about jesse's cars go on his website http://www.westcoastchoppers.com . I am a big jesse james fan as I am into motorcycles even more than my nissans. I met Jesse at a harley rally back when he wasnt known to too many people back in 1997. He is the nicest guy and very knowledgeable about fabbing cars and bikes. Jesse james can do a commercial for anything that he wants just because he is promotng autozone doesnt mean he is a sell out. He fabs all his parts with lathes and all the old school metal fabbing techniques. If it wasnt for jesse making the tv shows such as monster garae many of you wouldnt even know who he is unless you were in Long beach or into choppers.

in the 80's movie COBRA, starring Sylvester Stallone, the main character(Marion Cobretti, played by Stallone) drives a primered version of the 'Lead Sled' as they are often called.

http://www.geocities.com/theac....htmlStallone actually owned the car they used in shooting. They had replicas made for stunts, crashes.

VERY COOL

It says 'custom Merc'

Lead Sled is too obvious to be confused with anything else

I HATE choppers, but the El Diablo is a work of art. Jessie is an unbelieveable fabricator and machinist. He is one bad mofo.

'50 Chopped Merc will punch you in the face and take your girlfriend, those cars rock!

I found the commercial to be lame too, but good lord the OCC were even worse, way worse, I mean sure, both AOL and Autozone are great evils in this world, but what the hell does AOL have to do with building motorcycles? Autozone atleast has a nice selection of cheaper oils and mobil 1 filters...

Yeah, it might have been the 54 in the commercial. However, I have read that he also owns a 49 merc

It's a 1954 Chevy Bel-Air coupe. Chopped topped and air bagged.
