Today while getting my hair cut I was involved in a heated debate about cars, not just cars, but Japanese cars. A fellow citizen in the barber shop anounced that the only supposed "japanese" cars that are made in Japan are Suburu. I quickly contested his statement by saying my car was made in Japan. Then he went on to say that my car may have been designed in Japan, but made in U.S.A. I then garenteed him my car was made in Japan. He then went on to say, after finding out I had a G that my car in Japan was two times faster. Now, I don't know about two times faster, but I do believe the Skylines are modded differently, but both cars I believe are made in Japan. Can anyone help my conscience out by reassuring me our cars are made in Japan. I would hate to think my car shares the same metal and parts as a focus or a mustang.

I'm sure there are more people here who know for sure, but a quick google search yielded the fact that G's are made at the Tochigi Nissan plant.

Also, and I know this for sure, your car is a USDM Skyline350GT...which is the EXACT same as the G35, sans driver position and badging. Infact, there is a Skyline 250GT which is powered by the VQ25HR, which means your car would be faster than that version of the "G35"

Yes, Gs are made in Japan. If you look under the hood near the battery, there's a metal plate showing origin and what not. However, complete and final assembly of options is done here. Gs here in North America are the US version of the Nissan Skyline 350GT sold in Japan, which is different from a GT-R. I think the other person, and whoever else is not in the know of the word Skyline, thought the Japanese version was a GT-R version, which its not. Andy from Down Under has a JDM G/Skyline.

Subarus are not made only in Japan. Subarus are built here in the States as well.

Slightly incorrect. The 250GT/300GT's are sedans only, the coupe has always only come with the 3.5, but since he has a sedan, then yes. Those lower-powered models are not considered 'G's', they have the CVT-8 transmission only.

Your car is as Japanese as mine, the only difference is the JDM spec cars are spec'd at a higher tune. They are made on the same lot. Don't let some ill-informed highdresser get to you.

The G is completely assembled in Japan. Final assembly of options and all. I have not heard anything about final assembly being done in the US.

Correct. As far as I know and have heard from other members, additions like spoilers and front lips are options added on US soil, but that is it.

Somewhat informative...

If anybody can get the Japanese Nissan website up that would be cool too. There's an English version, but it won't load for me.

The English version of the Japanese Nissan website is pretty pathetic, there is little to no information on it, it is very, very basic.

That link is just a copy of the press release.

For the past 10 years, we have had a Subaru Legacy wagon. A sticker on the left rear side window reads "Team crafted in Indiana".

They are 100% built in Japan (like all Infiniti models I believe) and when shipped here, parts like spoilers, floor mats and such are added at the dock.

The HP numbers for the Japanese versions are slightly different at times, probably due to extra emissions control here in the US (speculation)

Here's a specification list showing HP as well:zerothread/231521

Infiniti G35 is made in Japan, just like myself. Many people do not know difference between a Skyline and Skyline GT-R.
