If this design is a lock, then it looks way better than I had originally thought. I'm still interested in how they got even a look at the new Corvette, but no matter, because it looks like it's pretty authentic. Now i'm just curious to what power plants we'll see next... :naughty:

Nice lookin' car- especially the swoopy side line. They're also taking a page from the Camaro book with that radical angle on the side above the rear wheel wells. I remember an article about the camaro which stated that GM had never molded metal at such an intense degree to be used for mass production without an alarming amount of defects.
Very glad to see it being replicated to make new shapes for other cars, like the Corvette.

Ferrari 599 GTB anyone?

That looks like Chevy's take on an exotic, which is what the Corvette must become with cars like the GT500 Mustang and even the Camaro ZL1 knocking on its back door performance-wise. This at least looks the part at this point. I'm very curious to see what they'll throw at its powertrain.

This. It seems Chevy is really pushing to make the vette look like a Ferrari since the C6 generation. Also see a little GT-R style in that design.

Ick. Either that car is hideous or Chevy needs new illustrators. Even if I take into account poor drawing skills, it's way too boxy for my taste. Curvy is sexy, GM, don't forget it:

Of those renderings, the second is the least bad, and they still f*** up the rear taillights. PERSPECTIVE: LEARN IT.

Way to "edgy" for me, like IBCoupe says, curvy is sexy.

NEAT. I like the feature that allows you to fill your car up with gas without ever having to leave your seat.

my opinion about the taillights is this -

they're on the camaro for a reason. Which you can get for about $30,000. Keep it that way.

My biggest gripe about the C6 was that it shared too many pieces from other GM products, the prime example being the same steering wheel as the POS Solstice my mom had... which was also the same as the HHR. In no way should a flagship sports/supercar share pieces like those with a car that costs $20k. You don't see the Versa and the GT-R sharing exhaust tips. Don't put a lame steering wheel from a microvan into a Vette.

I rather like the way Corvette allocates its funds. The overwhelming majority goes into the drivetrain, then exterior, and finally interior. As long as the parts are functional and don't suck balls, I'm perfectly fine with component sharing. It's part of what makes the Vette the best bang for the buck out there. Otherwise it would just be another Ferarri or Lambo.

too much going on with it.

More designers need to take note of the prettiest car being built today.

Eh, I dunno about that one there #1... although I DO think Europe is pumping out the best looking cars right now.

I might be a sucker for Germans, but

I like it a lot. A LOT. I've never liked the emptiness behind the fastback glass on C4 through C6 Corvettes.

It is a little busy, but we're looking at a hypothetical ZR1, where the Grand Sport or base model will be cleaner.
And yeah, the tail lights are a mess. Hopefully GM will wake up and fix them. I like the Camaro's setup, which are recognizable as the classic four-round, but squared off in a way that makes them distinctive. They're not just a geometric mess like the ones in this illustration.

The 458 is my favorite mid-engined Ferrari, but I still think the 599 is better looking. MP4-12C looks better, too.

I've never understood the complains about parts-sharing with the 'Vette. The reason it's a helluva lot of car for the money is that it uses a Cobalt steering wheel. If you can't be okay with that, it was never the car for you anyway. The parts that matter are unique to the Corvette.
And on the flipside of that, a lot of the benefit of cars like the Corvette is trickle-down tech, so it's inevitable that some of what it does will end up on lesser cars. This is a GOOD THING.

I like it. ALOT. But what my cheap azz likes even more is C6's getting cheaper. I'd very more than happy with a 2008 base model Vette.

I really don't see the connection to this and the 599. Other then that rear side window area, but that not enough for me to see the connection with it. A lot of cars look like that now a days.

D-Bag car is still driven by D-Bags. Sorry, but I have absolutely no love for the Corvette, yeah it has a legacy, yeah it has a V8, but it's still a plastic car driven primarily by d-bag kids who can't afford a Ferrarri or Lambo and guys in Mid-Life crisis. The only other car that has a higher percentage of d-bags driving it are M3's.

Too boxy for me, too. Also, too heavy-looking. A car built for speed should look sleek - like a rocket, or at least something that looks like it could fly if it had enough runway.

I don't mind it. It looks evolutionary. The only thing I don't care for are the cheapie camaro taillights. I think if they stick with the traditional round tail lens, they have a winner.

The C5 is still my favorite Corvette, at least as far as looks go. It's long, low, wide, and unapologetically American.
