Yeah, 19 is good compaired to my other 2 vehicles. I get 13 out of my 5.9L Durango and about 10-11 out of my 93 F-250 with the 7.5L V8 gas burner.brandonjustice93J30 wrote:just be thankful at least everyone is getting 19+ ....right now while I was getting work done on my J, I have my Mom's Jeep for a few weeks.
It gets 16 on a good day, 12-14 if I'm in 4x4 or have a heavy foot.
In that truck, I just DON'T go wot. lolyodawill2000 wrote:nothing like watching the needle drop when you go WOT huh hehe
Now divide that number by the number of gallons it takes to fill it back to full and you have a meaningful number, MPG.ososlow wrote:about 260-270 also
Ya'll must drive in the city? I can't stand heavy city traffic! Traffic lights and idiot drivers give me road rage. If I could get away with it, I would shoot out all the traffic lights!! not really. The horrible gas mileage, how do you guys stand it? But I guess if you only drive a few miles everyday and fill up once a month it's not so bad. I do have to fill up once a week.ososlow wrote:about 260-270 also
How do you know at what point he fills his tank? He lists a mile distance but doesn't say how much gas it took to get to that point. He could just be stopping before it's actually empty.rclem7 wrote:

If you do it, look into some of the old ford fans, like off an old Taurus and the Lincoln Mark 8 iirc. They are some of the strongest stock fans and you can find them cheap.fogged306 wrote:A thing occured to me a little while ago, these cars have clutch fans. If we swapped them out for electric, MPG would increase for the simple fact that eliminating the parasitic loss of the fan will free up some hp. I have built a few street cars in my day, and on every one of them, I have removed the clutch fan set-up and replaced them with an electric puller. I currently am building a mustang and have seen guys gain up to 18 rwhp from installing an electric fan alone on those cars. On this car we probably won't see quite that much, but enough to make it worth it, that will be my next project for this car. I have a Black Magic fan for my mustang thats still in the box and since that car isn't going to be done for a while, I'm going to put it in the J30. I'll post my gains if anyone is interested.
Edit: Now that I think of this, I wouldn't jump right on this one just yet. I remember reading that these fans draw 130A on start up and then around 40A constant while running, this may be a bit much for the charging system in the J30. I'm still going to try, but this may be the final nail in my alternators coffin.
