I agree. With 171,000 miles on my Q, I do not see any reason for exhasut modifications, except for curb appeal, and possibly the "low rumble" effect. I would think most mods that free up the exhaust will actually hurt the "off the line" performance. Fuel efficiency may be improved, at sustained highway speeds, thought. I have toyed with the idea of a "tunable" exhaust system, that works off of velocity and pressure, to maintain a constant back pressure, at lower velocitys, and eliminates the back pressure at higher velocitys. Unfortunately, the payback in performance and mileage for this system would not warrant the cost.

Were all Qs dual outlet - I can picture the late second generation (4.1) with duals w/ twin pipes. Can't picture the early or second or the first gerneration - I'll have to look through the galleries.
