seriously awesome man, i like that you made the s*** yourself.. I own a tig myself, and still bought a manifold... those collectors intimidate me, looks great though

Nice work man! Very impressive and I give you huge props for taking this on. Cant wait to see the end result, the car should be an absolute blast. I am very jealous of the size of your runners.. I wish mine were that big and not the size of my ports..

End goal for this car? Street car? Race car? bit of both cars?

I spy a spool valve, thats gonna make for a crazy power band. My 60mm/spool valve combo can hit 20psi at 3500 in 4th gear.

Mostly street car. I do not want to cage up the car for racing. It will see the occasional drag strip pass though just for kicks. What manifold do you run? I didn't think my runners were big at all.. :ohno:

You spy correctly my friend :chuckle: . I hate downshifting due to large turbo syndrome, so this spool valve should do the trick for lazy right foot highway driving.

My runners are ~1.0 id, a dude in the AU made it for me 7 years ago, I feel with the 3.0 they might be a bit of a restriction... Yours look at least 1.25?

Sounds like you built your car with similar intentions as mine, not worried about getting kicked out on the occasional track day or safety without a cage?

My i.d. Is about 1.5"....1.42"to be exact. I cant see how 1" would work at all. The ports on the rb26 head are 1.47 at its widest point of the oval. As for getting kicked off the track, I live in mississippi. They have kicked me off multiple times before in this very car for running 10's and a month later I run again like a stranger before being booted. It also happened in dallas a few times. I just dont like the idea of driving with a cage and no helmet on the street.

Manifold is done. I just need to get some SCH 1.5" to make a wastegate port and order a tial 44mm. Me and my crappy tig welds lmao. It should get the job done though.

Manifold looks awesome! I hope your going to get the port so it catches exhaust flow well.. and not just perpendicular to the flow like so many people do then have boost issues.

Well the problem with that is I have limited space. The collector isn't tall enough for me to do a port that leans up towards the flange much at all. My collector is barely past 4" tall including the flange and runner weld legs. I had to keep it short due to the spool valve thickness. If I place it on the strut tower side of the collector with a slight upwards lean, cyl 2,3, and 5 exhaust will only have to turn maybe 45 degrees. The remaining runners will still have to make a 75-80 degree turn to get to the wastegate port. It is better than a 90 degree turn I suppose.

Yeah I see your pics, its very tight. I was able to get boost under control by getting direct flow from #3,4 runners only on a 3.0 liter, so what your describing seems like it should work well. I was coming from a complete 90-100 degree bend that creept about 1 psi per 500 rpm..

I could probably build a production jig for the drivetrain, but with as much free time I have to put into shop work, I will probably never have time to do side work other than my own. Lately I have been playing with wiring here and there when I do have the time. It's not something that is picture worthy :naughty: . So far I broke down the fuse box, simplified it, made my own panel to mount the fuses and relays, and mounted to the passenger air bag location. I removed the bolts from under the dash that keep the air bag door on so that it can simply be popped off the dash when access is needed. Think of it as a hidden and out of sight fuse box. As of now, I have been working on pulling out all the wires that I don't want and soldering the remainder back together. Most of it needed shortening. I finished the whole shortening part, but now I have to do the wires that feed back out front for the lights, washer fluid, horn, low brake fluid, ac compressor, ps pressure sensor, alt and lower harness. I tend to do wiring slowly, just so sure that I get it right lol. It's something that's a pain in the a** to diagnose if something is wrong, like a needle in a hay stack. After that's done, I have to move onto the engine harness. From there, it will probably be a test phase to see if everything works. Then it's on to the hydraulics and awd pump. I am basically at the tedious end of the build where it's a lot of nick nacks that need to get done.

Holy crap back from the dead. I honestly forgot about my build thread. I got caught up in life with new job which I no longer have that ran me into the ground as far as available time. I also go hit by a tsunami of family troubles with the loss of a very close uncle followed by a very close cousin a year after. My cousin that passed was a victim of the SXSW tragedy (Sandy Le). These losses bummed me out for a 2 1/2 years, and the car collected a lot of dust. I have been working on it prior to my uncle passing, and then more recently as well. I actually took less photos than the onset of the project, and these photos are now spread across swaths of regular mundane food photos lol. I will need to dig for them to add them here, but it will take me a while to find them all. The car is actually about to be registered again, and I will need to let my agent know to add it to my insurance policy. It will need a whole bunch of body work in it's next phase, however, it will probably get tuned by me first (on the street and strip). Here is (one of) the moments you guys have probably been waiting for, https://youtu.be/RQbRLV4EzLE

That's all I have for now. It is a huge transformation from where I left this thread at, but I will dig up some photos to maybe bridge the time gap when I get the chance to sort through the years photos and post them here.

There you go, a ton of pictures posted... without captions of course lol. That would have taken forever if I wrote a mini-story per photo. I probably overlooked my albums, so I am sure there are quite a few photos missing.

i wish there was a way to go about this without the shock towers being swapped, surprised there isnt a way to swap knuckles from a FWD nissan on the S chassis and use a custom axle.. then knotch the frame etc

Full race does it without swapping the shock towers. They use an adapter plate with custom shock/coil setup. There may be a FWD knuckle that works, but I guess no one has ventured into that realm yet. The GTR knuckles and uprights have a higher castor angle than a typical FWD setup. The castor angle is more akin to a z32.
