For an autoloaders, it's .22 Hornet 5.7x28mm*, then skips to .32 ACP (.25 ACP is a joke), stopping at .45 ACP. So basically, .32 ACP, .380, .38 Special +P, 9mm, .357 SIG**, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and .45 GAP. There's a couple of others out there, 9mm Makarov being an example, that'll work too. 7.62x25mm is probably at risk of overpenetration.PoorManQ45 wrote:I hope you reload for that 50ae. Ammo is next to impossible to find! I've shot a Desert Eagle in 357mag. Those things are ridiculously heavy!
Charlieo, what is the appropriate caliber for an individual to carry? You kept going on about too much force and having a small pen15. So, what would be the minimum and the maximum that would not be underwhelming or excessive for you to carry?
By 9mm Luger do you mean a P08? If so, jumping from the ghetto-blaster Hi-Point to a WWII collectors item would be the most hilarious transition ever.Oatmealman wrote:I personally carry a 9mm,and that's the minimum i would carry, and yes i carry my hi-point 9mm call me a retard all you want but this gun has been the most reliable gun i've owned(shooting only tulammo)
My next gun it gonna be 9mm luger, and after that i'll probably buy a 357 just for fun
You're welcome. Please remember that I'm not anti-10mm, I'm just anti your application and recommendation for it.PoorManQ45 wrote: Charleo, thank you for clearing that up.
To the OP, I will now change my recommendation to a 45acp. It's nice to lob a big chuck of lead nice and "slow". It's like the 30-30 of hand guns. Won't ever burn up a barrel, won't put much stress on the frame, won't over-penetrate, will kill the target dead, and has very mild recoil in almost all frames.
I agree.Urabus GodofTraction wrote: I like .45 ACP. I do think the OP's desire for 9mm is pretty good. Effective, cheap, and easy to shoot!
Oh you're just tuning in, aren't you?Koshin wrote:.45 acp is what I carry. The best overall round for an auto IMO is the 10mm
yes by 9mm Luger i mean p08 and I don't have a gun bias unlike some people.Call the hi-point what you wish but if you think it's a ghetto blaster stand in front of the barrel and I'll pull the trigger.every other weekend i run about a 1000 rounds down range(all total i have about 6000 rounds down the barrel and have only have one ftf(from mag lips) and two stove pipes from limp wristing. These three happened within the first 50 rounds.I adjusted the mag lips and reworked my hold(bulky, cheap grip) and have yet to have any problems since.I also enjoy the fact that the warranty is amazing(So i hear, never had to use it) and I plan to send the gun in when i hit 10k rounds through it and have them go through it and tell me all what was worn out and i'll post it up when I get to that point, but until that point I'll continue to stick the hi-point on my hip in the morning and leave it on the nightstand at night ready to be chambered.Urabus GodofTraction wrote:By 9mm Luger do you mean a P08? If by 9mm Luger you mean the 9x19mm cartridge, well your High-Point is already chambered for that.
A few years ago, the Brady Campaign asked Wayne LaPierre, VP and CEO of the NRA, to shot by a non-vest penetrating 5.7x25mm round while wearing a vest. The Brady Campaign figured that if he believed the civilian 5.7 round wouldn't penetrate a Class II vest, then he should be willing to be shot with it.Oatmealman wrote: Call the hi-point what you wish but if you think it's a ghetto blaster stand in front of the barrel and I'll pull the trigger.
