So mmatl16, they need your permission to look under the hood just like they need it to look in your trunk right? I thought it worked like this but I wasn't sure. Good job on getting out of that one, some cops hate having to actaully follow the law.

yes sir they do need permission. but they usually just start ranting about fines and crap and people get scared. they need probable cause. end of story. they'll tell u whatever they have to to get u to think they can do whatever it is they want.

dont let em

does prepaid legal really have a 24hour number? if so that cool. all the literature I've read from says to "Just call your Provider's toll-free number during regular business hours when you have a legal problem or question."

i got pulled over for "shooting flames from the exhaust pipe" and "a release of pressure sound"

so the cop is asking me questions and im telling him my car has been running like crap and i dont know why it does that etc etc.

anyways he tells me to pop my hood. i tell him no.

ya i told him no. he then proceded to tell me he could just impound my car blah blah blah. so i say im gonna call my laywer real quick..(this is around midnight) he kind of laughs and tells me "ok but u know its midnight right?" i knew it was midnight but i told him i had pre-paid legal. he kind of stopped dead in his tracks and gave me back my stuff and told me to have a good night.

pre-paid legal is a law firm that has 24 hour service for those who dont know about it.

also i have an rb20 so ive got something to hide
lol, id do the same thing if i cop tried that crap with me. "you know its midnight right""yeah, my dad's still up"

cops around here are either hit or miss. ive had 2 that were really nice and the other 6-7 that have pulled me over have been complete ***holes. un fortunatly both of the cool ones got me doing something they really couldnt just "let me go" on. 80 in a 40 (cop gave me 69 in a 40) and the other was for 80 in a 40 and street racing but he let me off with 60 in a 40 and dropped the racing part. yeah im a jackass but im starting to mature and calm down some.

They can't actually issue you any sort of ticket for suspension, right? That's GOTTA be BS.

I mean, if it affects something like the wheels sticking WAY out, which is a problem some places, that's one thing, but fundamentally, there is no such thing as an "illegal" suspension, right?

Anyway, I've never heard of anyone in MD getting busted for anything on their car other than big wings (rear view obstruction).

Some guy in an STI got pulled on I-95 for this wing, officer didn't believe it was stock, lol.

I got pulled over the first night I had my N1 dual by a local cadet (though not knowing he was a cop I ditchd the head lights behind me, he caught up with me a min later at the grocery store, went to get some doggie food)

It was signed off by CHP, 2nd time it was dismissed because, once again, they do not have the equipment to test the level (which I tested myself w/ a decibal meter from school, it peaked @ 92 or 93, not the 94 limit -- and a turbo would help kill the sound a bit). So the judge dismissed it and the 3rd time the CHP asked me about I told him its not over the limit and its been dismissed twice, he said its close & asked if I ever get sick of being pulled over for it

Not that it matters anymore cause the 240 no longer belongs to me... :~(

WHen I first Got my 240 back in September, I got pulled over (state police) for peeling out of a parking lot while on my morning break from work. I turned back to get my Insurance card which was on the back seat, and as soon as I did that both officers ran up to the car hands on thier guns and yelled franticly for me to get out of the car. I get out of the car and they start asking me what I was reaching for while about 5 inches away from my face. I told them my insurance card and tried to hand it to them and they took it out of my hand and threw it back into the car. They told me that they had probable cause to search my car and preceeded to look at every little thing which took about 15 min. (about how long my morning break is, so by this time I'm late). Well when they didn't find anything they told me I had to sign this form that alllowed them to search my car (talk about being SHADY!!!). Since I just wanted to get back to work asap...I signed the form. I got yelled at by my boss and nearly lost my job until I explained what happened. When he heard what happened He told me to look up on the web about miranda rights. I would encourage you all to do the same. In fact I have a card with the miranda rights printed on them, so the next time anything like that ever happens I'm gonna keep my mouth shut and hand them the card. The beginning of the miranda rights states "I have the right remain silent....." So in other words you don't have to say a goddamn thing. If a cop finds a lb. of weed in an illegal search, that can't be admissable in a court of law....I just remind all of you out there that this the U.S. and we all have rights...so it is up to you all to keep yourself informed to better protect yourselves against these violations of civil liberties....Bottomline: Don't get bullied by cops and have your rights violated. Alright I think I've babbled enough...

I guess you made it out ok. Luckily in Indiana I don't have to worry about officer square nuts too much. Last time I was pulled over he called my boost gauge a tach.

This is one of the reasons I would prefer not to live in California. Another reason is the sky high real estate prices. I personally think if a car is able to pass an emissions test it should be allowed.

So what the hell do they do with, say, a Lambo Gallardo or Noble M12? Those cars are definitely lower than 2 1/2 inches.

I got tired of being pulled over and ticketed in my truck for no flaps or flares (I cant help my tires stick out 6 inches past my fenders) so I got to talking with this city cop one morning that i went out of my way to be friends with and he told me that putting somthing on your rig that says i support the chp or wsp or whatever police agency where you live your likley no to get a ticket only a warning so i thought id try this and i put a sticker in the rear window on my truck that i bought form the state patrol that says Idaho State Police Association and when i would got pulled for no flaps no flares i only get warnings. so i put 2 hats that said the same thing in my 240 and i havent gotin a ticket in a long time.
