The time has come to part with my car. In an effort to get ready for the next big phase of my life (engagement and wedding), I need to cut some costs so I'm looking to downgrade from this amazing car and get into something basic again (likely an 02 or 03 Maxima).

Link

Price might be a little high for the mileage but...

1) You get almost 20k (more than a year for the average driver/car) of warranty with the Infiniti Elite Protection warranty
2) You get a BOAT LOAD of receipts and service records should you want them to prove the car is EXTREMELY well maintained
3) I'm a REAL clean person so the car is very clean as well

If anyone knows someone looking for an M...please let them know. Thanks.

Haha...I'm Ukrainian...it's how it is there too.

I actually miss my 99 Maxima. So I'll probably get a nicely modded/mint 02 or 03 with the 3.5. It might not ride as well as the M, but it will be just as fast (it's lighter - power to weight), etc.

I might come back or I might never leave. I also have a buddy of mine looking for an 08+ at the auction (he says he can get me one after fixing with slightly lower mileage than mine for under $15k). If I can save $5k and upgrade to a newer car, I'll definitely do it. Time will tell though.

Congrats on the future plans.

But being 64 has its benefits. I can afford the car and the extraordinary woman! But then again I need glasses to drive the car and Viagra to...

Enjoy; it's called maturation. Not getting older-but better!

Dude,

Congrats on the marriage. But I have to ask, why dump the Infiniti? Do you need the money? If the little lady doesn't like the car and you are selling it because of her that is not a good omen for the future. Best of luck to you either way. Just remember once you let the bride to be boss you around that is the way it will be forever. KEEP the Infiniti and man up is my OP.

or at least get an idea if she is open to the idea of you getting another Infiniti later when expenses aren't tight vs "let's start looking at mini-vans, because they're more practical when you have kids..." :nono:

my wife has always been against the idea of a mini-van even though we have two boys-awesome! :bigthumb:
plus, once she got her hardwood floors-she told me, "you can start looking for YOUR car." she's a keeper. :lolling:

ROFLOL. My wife of 35 years never questioned what I bought or why. She would question the finances. Another friend of mine buys what he wants, when he wants and his wife questions nothing. But, we are old school guys. Born and raised in the early 50's. I hope the poster is going to have a great life, but I have seen a few friends let the little lady run them around and pretty soon its divorce time. Guess I have been lucky, I have bought my share of rides and bikes and all my wife has asked is I am sure I want it and we can afford it. I have seen it flipped the other way and mini-vans are parked in their driveway and the poor guy can't even watch what he wants on TV. Best of luck to guy.

Nah, nothing to do with her likes or dislikes, etc. She actually loves my car and was surprised I put it up for sale lol. I just have a lot of other expensive hobbies (I'm a computer geek + a photographer and musician) and with the costs of the engagement/wedding + future increase in costs of life (paying for two and not one)...I need to be smart about what I keep and what I get rid of it so I can afford to keep doing 'my' things such as upgrading my PC, camera gear, music gear, etc.

I've been thinking of downgrading a bit myself even before I started having thoughts of proposing to her. I might be extending my work commute, etc. so I've been going back and forth with the idea of selling it and getting something a little easier on the gas.

I came upon this CLEAN (even more clean than my M) 03 Maxima (I used to have a 99) and I'm praying my car sells so I can get into that lol. Truth be told, I miss my Maxima. That car is what made me say, "Okay, thats it...time to list the M." Before that, I was tossing the idea around.

The main points for me are this: The Maxima gets better MPG AND is easier to work on. The M warranty is up at 88k...and the pace I drive (I did 40kmi in a little over a year), that aint' much longer. Should something break, this car will be a PITA (too many computers, more complex systems, etc). Having had a Maxima that NEVER had a warranty (and I had it for 4 years)...I know how to fix EVERYTHING on those cars and they are relatively inexpensive to fix.

Yes, but even more important is that you are considering a new role; 1+1=2, then 3, 4..? Switching from a freewheeling bachelor to a more responsible spouse (then father...) role is not easy and very scary for most. As I said before you might not like it but you are maturing. It just doesn't happen to everyone as does growing old.

We need more of you guys out there.

IlyaKol,

Sounds to me you have your head screwed on right and a clear set of goals. I am glad to here it. I understand about the computers, as I too am always looking to upgrade etc. My next car may be a Maxima too. I love my M but when I see a Maxima I get to wondering if thats not next.

Best of luck to you with the wife and the future little ones.

Maybe for this society and nation. Where I'm from, it's a different ball game. My upbringing is completely different than the one my peers get here, where people go into marriage with the option of later getting a divorce like it's no big deal. I guess that's why the US has a, what, 50% divorce rate now?

Anyway...lets keep it on topic folks. If you know someone looking for a well maintained M, send em my way.

I think it's worse than 50%, but that's the percentage of marriages that end in divorce, not the percentage of people that end up in divorce (with plenty of people having multiple divorces, the percentage of people is probably significantly better, with some of them even caught in the crossfire because they were silly enough to marry a serial divorcer [or perhaps unfortunate enough to marry a future serial devirocer]). Gotta keep your eyes open when reading stats, the media here wants to sell a story or maybe push an agenda, not educate you.

Divorce.com has the rate at 49% for the US and 63% for the Ukraine.

When I was in Europe last year, countries such as Germany, Poland and France were complaining about the flood of hookers from the Ukraine that were operating in their countries.

You should be glad you are living in the US - it's time to give up the old world values and become an American.

I was going to post a long reply but I'm not going to bother.

I"m Ukrainian born, American raised, but I'm neither of those. I'm Christian. My upbringing/beliefs are based on THAT more than they are on Ukraine or America. It's not time to give up anything. America isn't all it's cracked up to be. Plenty of issues here (and I'm not just talking about the economy either).

Moderators, please close or cleanup this thread. It's getting way off track and becoming something totally unrelated to Infiniti or the M.

Geez, I think potential un-American religulous discrimination is a very important issue as it relates to Infiniti and/or the M. I think. Image

Interesting how the intolerant want to suppress dissent after they spew their warped views.
