Worse case, if it gets really bad, i cant drive the Q because I wont be able to get it out of the driveway.. So I take the SUV or the FWD GTP..... No worries, i intend to limit winter driving to a minimum..... No TCS is not good for winter driving, but it can be done.....

Lou we'll still work on that so you can see the Q for yourself!

Thanks for all the compliments, I am in Q45(t) bliss!

Congrats, Wes. Welcome to the world of Super HICAS.

I bet, if you try hard enough, you could drive the car, even though it doesn's have TCS. Thousands of people (myself included) learn to drive RWD cars, in extreme winter conditions.

Boy, that driver's door fits kinda funny

I left the door open, because the car was running...

On my old Q the doors would spontaneously lock, without warning..... WIthout a spare key, this is not good, so no taking chances.....

I think this Q might have the same thing (the drivers side rear door like to lock at will)...

I've got the weird self-locking syndrome too, but its from my aftermarket remote start/keyless system which sometimes has a mind of its own (but worth every penny still).

I've driven the 92 in the winter with all-season Firestones just fine. No worries, no problems. One sandbag in the back seat is sufficient. Of course, thats with the original TCU starting calmly in second gear. I sometimes despise the first-gear start in rainy weather.

The Q is definitely safer than the minivan (sold), which was RWD with an open differential and horrible balance.

Just be careful they aren't ther cheap ones that wear away and end up in your tumbler, but they're good enough for spares to keep from getting locked out of a running car .

Wes...I am sure the thought has already crossed your mind, but would it be possible to upate your new Q with TCS from your old Q. The dealer told me that the ABS computer would have to be switched out, the TCS wiring harness, and then the rear diff with the TCS sensors on each side. This is what the dealer told me when I tried to switch from a TCS diff to a regular diff and I did not care about retaining TCS anymore living in Miami.

The way I see it, id rather have no TCS, not mess with it and buy a POS for winter, or drive my parents cars and they can deal with RWD and no TCS.....

The car runs so good, I dont want to mess with anything, im almost tempted to have someone do the fuel pump for me..... Its not worth it IMHO, because theyre are better alternatives to adding TCS to my non TCS car..... Which BTW the ECU is for TCS. Just too much work..

TCS is annoying in the summer, and isnt that great in the winter.....

That's very considerate of you Wes. Just let your parents deal with the RWD in the winter.

I don't look at RWD(No TCS) in the snow as something that has to be "dealt" with. It's something that you should enjoy. Can you say "Controlled Over-steer".

hey Wes whats the deal with the black mats with the tan interior. Dont you have tan in your old Q. You should put those the new Q and send the black ones on up.

I kinda like the black/tan contrast... It looks pretty good, and they are very easy to keep clean (no vacuuming required, just shake everyso often)...

I am going to start a poll.....

I am going to keep the black mats in there, for winter and then when summer rolls around and they wont get dirty, I'll throw the tan ones in there...

Ill post some side by sides later...

It's the wheels. Put the PiePans on it, and nobody will even give it a second look.

My silver Q has a loose wire in the passenger's control. I an lock the doors by just rolling down the window, or taping the controller, or slamming the door. I sometimes have to unlock the doors 3 or 4 times to keep them unlocked. I think I will buy a new passenger control panel, and see if that fixes it. I have already replaced the controller in the left rear door.

I have thought about swapping the front and rear seats, in the silver and black Q's. It owwould look cool with black seats in the silver interior, and silver seats in the black interior.

What do you think?

Jeff, that sounds kickass...

Would be a nice contrast, and if you could get ahold of some grey/black door panels from a 90-93, might be ultra golden...

If you need any parts from my Q please let me know.....

I second that! A DIY two-tone like that would look pretty sweet.

Re: TCS in the winter

I've found that sometimes if you're on a really slippery surface, the TCS has to be shut off so that you can at least spin the tires and get the car onto an area that has more traction. Otherwise the car doesn't budge at all if the TCS is on.

Just saw the pics, very very nice. I know you must be loving it!!

I don't know if the TCS is different, but we are having our first rain of the season and I love it. I can launch like an F1 car with no wheel spin. The "slip" light comes on, it just goes. I especially like being able to come out of a corner and gas it without having the tail come around. And of course, if I want the tail to come around, just turn TCS off!!
