Is this your first Infiniti?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I was looking mainly for EX owners, but I guess I can't stop you from voting. Althought the initial results are telling me what I suspected. Infiniti is tapping a new audience here.

I would agree, tho it seems to compete with the Murano which may spread sales about.

This is our third Infiniti. The first one was totaled in a crash and the replacement has 130000 miles with no problems. We have been very pleased with our cars, dealer and the service department.

To the uneducated perhaps. But they are completely different vehicles. Not even close.

From a general population perspective. Infiniti is up-scale and with the economy the way it is there is probably some additional competition based on vehicle size and usability going on. I didn't suggest the Murano was equal to the EX

Your point? I said competition, not that they were similar vehicles.

but in that train of thought, a Subaru Outback is competition to an FX50.

Other than the Outlander is not a Nissan product? Is the Z competition for the G?

Actually, the Outlander is neither a Nissan nor a Subaru ... it's Mitsubishi!

FWIW, I did consider the Rogue, then the Murano, trying to save a little money, but luckily, I came to my senses!! I could never have been happy with a CVT - just doesn't seem natural to me.

Compared to the Murano, I found the EX more agile and more luxurious. Though there's a strong family resemblence, I much prefer the looks of the EX as well.

Coming from an Audi S4, if the Subaru WRX STi had a sunroof and a couple other features, things might have worked out differently again! No regrets though - love my EX!

I'd prefer the EX too. It's a premium upgrade from the Nissan lineup.

its definately a good car. i had one for about 3 weeks, while my car was being repaired, and i loved it. the ride is excellent, and it goes faster than it should. my only gripe is that it is very very very very small. i dont know anyone who can use it at 5 people. im not THAT tall at 6ft, yet behind me was no space even for a child seat. all in all though, a much better soft roader than the RDX, and much more interesting than the RX or X3.

My brother had a 2004 G35 Coupe that I'd often drive (& really enjoyed!), but I never even considered an Infiniti for myself. I did start by looking at the Murano... but really loved the EX's styling, & one day after a test drive.... it was all over... the EX won! I've still only seen 3 others in 3 months in both Sacramento & San Francisco! Of course though, this economic/fuel price climate has got to be the worst time for the EX's sales or any car for that matter.

Well, I actually would agree.

I had a 2004 Murano as a company car, and for work I need the ability to drive on a dirt track, through fields and up hills offroad on occasion. Most of my driving is highway though. I'll have to drive 300 miles on a highway, and then spend half a mile driving on a dirt track up a steep hill where you need 4x4 otherwise you just grind to a halt.

The Murano was great in 2004, as there really weren't many vehicles in the crossover SUV segment. I like driving, and I'm not at all a fan of traditional Explorer/Envoy/Pathfinder boxy, unwieldy SUV's. I put 125,000 on the Murano, and it was time to trade it in last month as repairs were getting out of control. I had the new Murano as a rental for 3 days, and I did like it. I'd initially crossed off the EX from my list as it just looked too small, and it looked like the ground clearance wouldnt be sufficient. So I drove to the Infiniti dealer to look at the FX, knowing I would get a good deal as they try to shift them before the new model comes out. I parked my Murano next to a new EX on the lot, and just for the sake of it, compared dimensions.

I was amazed that the ground clearance on the EX was identical to my Murano. Deceiving huh?! Although the Murano rides a lot higher, it has a ridiculously designed exhaust system which hangs painfully low under the car. The bottom line of the doors of the EX that you see when u stand a few feet from it is the bottom of the car. It has no stupid bits hanging underneath.

I went in the dealers and was then amazed that I could get a new EX fully loaded for only a couple grand more than a new Murano (with a ton more features too). And then I drove it, and that was that. I got the EX.

I'm a young single male, and very rarely have people in the back (which at 6'5 is going to be tricky if I need to), so the rear space issue isn't really an issue to me. I actually don't need to drive with the seat all the way back, so for short trips I could move forwards enough to get a sub 6' person behind me.

Also on my list was a diesel Mercedes ML. However, it was tricky finding one, and reasonably equipped, was going to end up 6 or 7 thousand more than the EX. I have seen that Infiniti are finally launching in Europe (where I hail from), and I would bet my bottom dollar that they will bring some diesel engines out over there within a couple of years, which maybe will make their way here at some point....one can hope. (And to those who still shudder at the thought of a diesel, see what Mercedes and VW et al can do with them now - the diesel E320 is actually quicker and quieter than the equivalent size gas engined model!)

Anyway, this turned into a bit of a longer post than I'd planned. I think I initially meant to say 'yes, this was my first Infiniti......'

My EX is my second infiniti. I had a 2004 G35X which I really liked. I probably would have gotten another one when the lease ended, but the opportunity to have the small luxury car that I was used to with the added ability to haul small cargo and get all the neat new features sold me on the EX.

I had a Maxima SE in 2001A G35X in 2004and now a EX35 full loaded and I love it ?

After 3 weeks I still discover new feature on my car !

The price value is unbeatteable compare to Mercedes, Lexus and BMW.Very pleasant to drive, I feel secure in any road condition.Service from Infiniti dealer is the best I ever received.

Not my first; my forth. 2000 G20 (for the kids) 99 Q45, '03 M45 and the '08 EX 35. All of them have been great cars to own and drive. And I've owned 56 different cars to date.

Been a Nissan (Datsun) and Infiniti guy for many years. Started my love affair with them in 1979 (yup I'm almost as old as dirt ) had a Datsun 280ZX and then a 210 as the daily commuter car that I shipped to the UK when I was stationed there. Fast forward to current times, and have been enamoured with the entire new line up ... especially the styling and performance. Bought an '03 Murano .. it was super. Bought the G in '05 and have loved it, and just got the EX the other night. WOW!!! And in my job I handle vehicle leases, and I've done deals for several QX4s, I30s and Gs. It's all good ... Infiniti has been great. And several of my co-workers also drive Infinitis ... mostly FXs. A true fan!!!

Yes this is my first Infiniti. I could have gotten a 2008 Subaru WRX STI (RED) but my younger years are over and my back starts to hurt. The EX35 is a lot refine and relax to drive. The power is smooth but not as powerful as the WRX STI.

That's hilarious!!

A Suby WRX STi was precisely what I had my eye on also! I had driven an Audi S4 since 1995 and was on my second one, but I decided my next car needed to be a hatchback to ease the shunting of my son's hockey gear.

It seems a number of us on this forum are of "like mind"!

Cheers,David
