Recapitulation:
1. First interesting deal: MRSP X Manufacturer discount Y Dealer discount Z Final price P. Took two days to find out how much I have to pay !? It was Final price P + 19%. Wow, why ? took two days to get an answer 6.25% tax + 300 registration + ~ 12% dealer adds !? Wow, nice !
There is a FINAL PRICE, then 12% dealer adds. For your information where I come from, if you see advertise for $10, $1500 or $30,000 this is exactly what you have to pay. My country is strange !
2. About one out of four dealers answered (something) by email.
3. No one could call me back overseas.
4. Then we found the car ! Same story. No written answer regarding options, possible problems of the NEW CAR. Advertised price+6,25% + $300 registration. Nothing else. Wow ! Great ! Last trouble, one day negotiation because they went back and forth… not possible to wire money 100% from overseas. We need a bank account in US. Not easy, few more days.
5. Nothing personal so far, this is American (or Texas) way. So much different.
6. Got the car after two weeks of hard remote work, dozens of hours on the phone. But only three visits to dealers. Happy. Good deal. I was joking with my friends, next time I will build the car myself, it’s easier.
7. Nothing personal so far. I am sure you have perfect explanations for this amazing way of selling cars (if you buy a $12 Chinese lamp at Walmart is more serious than this).
8. Then during my few days visit (very proud about MY NEW car, and I still am… 39,6mpg then 41,3mpg…), I discovered the hole, probably my family would never do it. Because my wife was driving and rubber seal moved from normal position. As you see it in above pictures.
9. Still OK nothing personal. s*** may happen.
10. Call and visit dealership asap. Salesman-good person- said “I have never seen such a thing before, let me check, CALL ME tomorrow”. I said to him “ It is out of question to come like that from factory, it is most probably a repair you made, fix-a-dent or hail damage on the door”.
11. We called every two days for about 10 days. …They toldl my wife to come, put the rubber seal in right position, then discussed internally for about one hour….Then you know the story.
12. Hole issue is now added to the whole process and climaxed by Nissan similar attitude and policy (nothing written, no full names, no responsibility, "it is not factory warranty", "it is between you and dealership", "we are sorry but cannot help" … "but you may VISIT SOMEBODY ELSE FOR SECOND OPINION !?", then amazing maintenance schedule).

Thus, yes Sir, now it is a personal outrage also. Looks like average buyer in US accepts to buy this way. Keep going ! :thewave: Nissan would be great again ! Here I've learned the word stealership, best lesson. Thanks !

OK Let's say I'm just an alien without the know-how of the brilliant automotive industry.

But have a look what a manufacturer is calling for:

"Take Action

Help Create a Truly Free Market in Texas

In order to combat the deep pockets of automobile dealers in Texas, (we) need YOU – the consumer – to help us make our case to state legislators. We all know that money talks, but so can you....."

OK dude, after the first page of posts, I have officially lost all interest in your little hole problem, and your ranting about dealerships, and ranting about Texas, or whatever else in your universe that you have been complaining about (I stopped reading most of your overly long posts).
I mean, really. There's a small hole in your vehicle that shouldn't be there. I get that.
Plug the hole and move on.

This is for you. Might help put things in perspective. Cheers.

THE MAYONNAISE JAR AND 2 CUPS OF COFFEE
>
>When things in your life seem almost too much to
>handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough,
>remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of
>coffee...
>
>A professor stood before his philosophy class and
>had some items in front of him.
>When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a
>very large and empty mayonnaise jar
>and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
>
>He then asked the students if the jar was full. They
>agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a
>box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar
>lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.
>He then asked the students again if the jar was full.
>They agreed it was.
>The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured
>it into the jar.
>
>Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
>He asked once more if the jar was full.
>The students responded with a unanimous yes."
>The professor then produced two cups of coffee from
>under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar,
>effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
>The students laughed.
>
>"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided,
>"I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
>The golf balls are the important things -- your God,
>family, your children, your health, your friends,
>and your favourite passions -- things that if
>everything else was lost and only they remained,
>your life would still be full.
>
>The pebbles are the other things that matter like your
>job, your house, and your car.
>The sand is everything else -- the small stuff."
>
>"if you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is
>no room for the pebbles or the golf balls."
>
>"The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and
>energy on the small stuff, you will never have room
>for the things that are important to you.
>Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
>Play with your children.
>Take time to get medical checkups.
>Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18.
>There will always be time to clean the house and fix
>the disposal.
>Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that
>really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
>
>One of the students raised her hand and inquired
>what the coffee represented.
>
>The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just
>goes to show you that no matter how full your lifemay seem,
>there's always room for a couple of cups of
>coffee with a friend."
