Because I have not seen these vehicles on road in any of the coverages either on News, Documentaries and Movies ?

(Ofcourse I don't live in N.A that is why I am asking this question)

I don't see very many other Pathfinders around my area compared to other vehicles. Most of the R50s I've seen are driven by middle aged women. I've met two other R50 owners the same age as me, and I've seen a younger guy driving a tan WD21. I see some Hardbodies as well, but other than that, nothing around me. I probably see more R51s than R50s or WD21s.

I rarely see Pathfinders of any year in television/news/movies/etc.

although Im in the tip of the snowbelt...
here in centreville VA...I see about 2 other ppl with 01-04 models just like mine within a 1 mile radius...last time I saw a bunch of them was in the dealership...there was like 8 (97-04) models ...these were bought out because of the recall...and every now and then I see 1 every 3-4 days when Im on the road which is not so frequent...4x4 are pretty popular here because weather can become unpredictable during winter also soccer moms love driving bigger cars so they can ram into noob drivers like them...
as for the movies I usually see bigger sized SUVs used in police/forensic/detective tv series ...something like a GMC envoy/FORD excursion/ESCALADE LINCOLN....usually big black suvs which I guess are visually more diplomatic looking (btw anything AMERICAN that will BOOST the AMERICAN CAR industry seems to be the films industry MO

I see a few every day out here in CA, not as many as 4runners, but I see more Pathfinders/QX4 than similar year Ford Explorers!

Its a good size SUV, easy to drive, and reliable so people keep them. The R50 is a odd combination of being not quite the best at anything, but good at everything and reliable to boot.

In Vancouver BC Canada, I see less R50 pathfinders/qx4 than Cr-v's but more than 4runners (of same time period). And for that matter, I can't remember the last time when I've seen a ford explorer of the same time period on the road here.

Theres a qx4 on my street, an prefacelift r50 pathy a block away, another 3 blocks away in another direction, loads of them in a certain suburb area, and an exact copy of mine (2001 sherwood green Le) always polished on the rich side of town...

Well here on the east coast of Canada pathfinders are everywhere. I see one every time I leave the house. QX4's are rarer though. I only know of a handful.

There is an identical gold Patfhinder LE just down the street from my house. I actually saw the guy washing it and we both stared at eachothers pathys as I drove by. By identical I mean Hitch, tint..everything! Other than that I see alot of Pathfinders on the road here in the GTA area. Mostly SE's or Chilkoot's though. Not alot of LE's...which is fine by me

Here in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada), I see a fair amount of R50's. I would say over half of them are Chilkoots or Chinooks. Not that many LE's. QX4's are pretty rare though. When I see one, I always like to take a closer look. I have only seen maybe 2 other Pathy's the same colour as mine, so I kind of like that. WD21's are rare. Probably all rusted out and in the junkyards.
4 runners and Explorers are also few and far between. Definitely more Pathfinders around here.
As for newer R51's, there aren't a whole lot of them around. Seems like they don't sell very well here. I never see any advertising for them either, so that may be part of the reason. There are even less Xterra's.
What I do see a lot of is Altima's. I have a silver grey 2006 SL, and they are a dime a dozen around here. Hard to find in the parking lot. I should have picked another colour.

In richmond va I see pathfinders pretty often. Most of the time, as someone mentioned, it is usually middle aged woman driving them. In blacksburg va I have seen a few pathfinders also. I don't really know anyone that is my age that has a pathfinder other than on this forum like towncivillian.

So from the above comments it seems that R50s are more Popular in Canada than US.

Here in Middle East, we have lot of Pathys. Both Middle East Specs and America Exports, It seems that this is the favouirate Export Market of US, as far as R50 / Qx4 are concerned, because I see lot of US specs. In 100 cars on road roughly you can see 3-4 pathys, which is quite a good percentage.

Similarly I see many QX4 but less than R50’s,
Actually it is strange, when I owned the R50 I used to see them every where and Could Hardly notice Qx4, and now when I own a Qx4, I see them a lot, almost in every neighbourhood. But 90% of Qx4 here are American Export.

People here are reluctant to buy American Exports since their cooling systems are not meant to survive in really hot weather, some time it get to 54C so in this temperature Amercian Pathys and Jeeps struggle to keep themselves and their occupants cool,

How do you guys find the cooling system in Pathys in N.A. in what maximum temperature have you tested you pathys / Qx4s

In relatively hot Florida summers (34-40C), the cooling system works fine. The coolant temperature gauge never rises above halfway. The A/C can take a while to start blowing cold air if I parked outside in the heat, but other than that no problems.

last night I was watching Home Alone 3 on TV, and filnally I saw a QX4 (Silver COlour 2001-2003) is any US Movie,

Ahhh I am a Happy man now

hehehehehe

But there was a Wind Deflector on the sun roof, is it standard in US Qx4 or is an aftermarket addition, because I have never seen the wind deflector on sun roon in any of US Export Pathy or Qx4 here in Dubai. The Only wond deflector I see is at the rear window hatch that too in US models only

Yay! :wavey:

I'm not sure about the sunroof deflector, but there are 25 pages of Pathfinder & QX4 pictures you can look through if you've got the time to try to find out.

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada reporting in. It seems like I'm seeing more and more Pathfinders as time goes on. It could be confirmation bias: I remember when I see a Pathfinder, but don't give a second thought about the times I see other mid-size SUVs. Though over my 5 years of ownership, Pathfinders do seem to be getting more and more popular in the "7+ year old mid size SUV" category. I'm assuming the domestic SUVs of that era are dying off, while the 7-12 year old Pathfinders are going strong.

And yes, throw 4Runners into the same category as Pathfinders. I'm seeing a greater percentage of those as well. However, in both cases it's all relative. Their relative popularity in the mid-size SUV category might have grown 50% in the last five years, but that could mean the Pathfinder's absolute popularity grows from 2% to 3%. In the grand scheme of things, they're not a big player.

I've been in Las Vegas now for just over a month, and I've only noticed a couple. I've also never seen any whilst taking mine out in the sand dunes. Actually the only other guys I've seen out in the dunes/hills of Vegas were Jeeps, and Range Rovers...besides all the ATV's and purpose built machines.

Ha ha, thats why mine looks so good :rotfl

The original paint chipped way too easily so its hard to find the front-end paint in good shape.

If you were really on top of things you could tell what year it was by its grille and roof rack, but then again it's probably barely shown in the commercial.

Well it was only shown from the rear, but based on the roof rack, I guess it's a '99.5-'01.

But then it's not really my generation, so I guess I don't pay as much attention. I bet all '96-'99 pathfinders look the same to you :chuckle:

I can't tell either - you are definitely correct that it's a 99.5 through 01.5. I can't see the tailpipe, so it's impossible to tell what engine is in it.
