...does everyone else learn something new about their Q45 when they open the manual.

I swear everytime I look at that thing I learn something new. Tonight was HICAS night. What an intricate system.

I didn't even think I had HICAS, I just thought it was something for the active suspension. It looks like a b1tch to work with, but wow!

What are some other little things that you all have discovered about your car from looking through the FSM?

One for me is that you can move the headrests up and down. I had no clue. When I found that out I had to run outside just put all four of them up a notch. Just to do it. Owned the car for going on two years and still learning new things.. that is pretty cool!

Have you noticed the tiny green light bulbs in all the window switches and in the position controls of the air vents. How about AM Stereo on WSB-AM and the air freshener slot on the bottom of front center of drivers seat. How about how to trim/offset the HVAC display temperature.

You have to be kidding me!!!

That air freshner thing still smells. Not potent, but I never seen that before. Can you get a refill for that thing?

What is the trim/offset for the HVAC? Is that the outside temp?

I have noticed the lights in the window switches but not the air vents. Good Grief.

Here's one for you:

Does anyone else's gauge cluster "light up" when their lights are on? I noticed that on Fred's and Wes's Q, the plastic piece AROUND the gauges glows softly when the lights are on. Mine, however, is totally opaque and stays black (only the round gauge faces are lit).

p.s. I had my car for 2 years before I realized the headrests adjusted front to rear.... :)

If I could request one feature, it would be motorized oscillating vents. I loved it on my Mazda 626 and two 929s. It was gimmicky-cool, plus it worked.

And the Infiniti logo in the pinstriping on the 94+ Qs... I thought that was cool.

One thing I noticed about the 94+... is that there's no lights on the vent open/close switch. At night on the way home from Lexington in my 92 (which now has a 94 dash) I found myself fumbling around for the switches.

The oscillating vents are way too cool. Didn't the 97-01 have those?

p.s. Jesda, your Q is sweet - Glad I got to see it.

HVAC trims the displayed indicated [desired] inside temperature because people are different. 72F may feel warm , just right , or cold so trim the temp felt by driver +-6F, in 1F steps.

A trick used by some to make the AC feel colder........instead of down to 65F you can get a 59F [shutoff] which might freeze the system?

Chances are if I havent noticed it, its not there...... :D

Have you noticed that the 90-93 dont have chrome-ish exhaust tips and the 94-96 do....

Also, what I dont like is the tail light assy in the 94 is a lot brighter and with chrome trim.. Anyone wanna trade?? :D

Theres also a lot of chrome molding, which I like but somepoeple think its overdone...

I kinda like the chrome trim around the tail light assy. It looks cool.

Have any of yall tried any chrome polish on the trim. I was going to buy some last night, but decided against it.

WEs, I have the same rims as you do, what do you clean them with, if anything?

One of the first things I noticed when I bought my car was that there was no cup holders. And you know what, I was glad. Cup holders can be kinda tacky, although there are some times to where I have cursed at the car for its lack of cup holding ability.

You have chrome piepans???? I have different rims than in the picture...

Windex works great on any rim, especially chrome ones and highly posished alloys... Take my word for it..

The 94-96 arent much better when it comes to cup holders, we get quasi-holders that can hold cans and thats about it.....

I don't think they are chrome. They look just like the ones you have in that picture.

How about that little box on the rear shelf? The first time I opened it was when I installed a new fuel pump. I didn't know what it was for... and still don't.

p.s. Hey what is up with the low washer fluid light? Do you have to use OEM specified washer fluid? My light won't go out, despite filling that mofo to the brim. Electrical Gremlin I suspect.

I use that little box in the back to carry my service manual printouts and my multimeter.....

I guess its time to get a new sensor for your washer fluid...!!!

Three months into Q's ownership, I found out that I can control audio volume using the control on the steering wheel.

Someone said that if you hold the door open button on the remote for some seconds, the windows will roll down. I have not get this to work yet.

No way. It did not show up on my ECU that I needed a new washer fluid sensor... just kidding. Can't be that expensive, easy fix.

What year did they start with the keyless entry? That is something I have always wanted.

where is the airfreshener thingy. All I see under my drivers seat is some square black thing in the middle of the trim piece.

also I thought that the side view mirrors were suppose to move down when you put the car into reverse....is this true?

I think only one side does it at a time, but you have to have the power window adjustment switch set to the side you want to angle down.

And you have to move the lever to whatever side you want to move... And also if you have it on R when you put it in reverse, you have to move it back to center and back to R...

I thought that was only on post 1990 - 1993 Q's.

I'll have to try that. :)

I believe you are correct, Qship. If it is not in the owner's manual, then the feature is not on that car.

for those of you with fog lights....ever notice how when you go to flash the brights really quickly to get some slow poke out of the way in the left lane that the fogs turn off instantly while hitting the high beams and then back on again when hitting the low beams. It really draws a lot of attention when you do it really quickly flashing on and off your fogs with the brights. One of my friends one night thought that I was an undercover when I pulled up behind him with the flashing lights

I usually dont sit in the left lane, but if someone flashes their brights at me ( it's uncivilized) - I sure as hell dont move then (I tap the brakes). Generally people who want you to move go up about one or two car lengths then realize they're out there alone and get scared s---less and slow down - thereby ruining my position (which is why I don't move anymore). This is the Peoples Republic of Wisconsin though and there are radar traps everywhere, on Sunday morning I saw seven people stopped from 8:30 - 9:00 am. this is also the land of the obese alcoholics (per capita). So hopefully it's better where you guys are, don't get your head blown off or cue balled flashing the H-beams! :)

Hmmmmm. Gotta comment here, squee - Don't take it the wrong way.

The left lane is (and always has been) for the fastest car in the pack - It's not up to you to dictate how fast traffic "should" move. Failing to yield and then "tapping brakes" at freeway speeds is "uncivilized". Flashing lights is (and has always been) a friendly reminder to get your slow arse outta the way.

If I wanna do triple-digits in the left lane, that's my biz - Don't block the lane, move over. What you're doing is (believe it or not) illegal.

Could be a panicked parent on the way to the emergency room with a sick kid - You never know.

Not flaming, just pointing out some old-school "rules of the road" that seem to have fallen by the wayside. Don't Dads teach their kids this stuff anymore?

No doubt! Try driving in Europe where everyone is flashing there lights and honking their horn. It's considered a courtesy and not anything else. We're just spoiled and think everyone is intrusive or trying to show us up. Play that attitude crap here in Eastern NC and wind up in a ditch. Just the laws of the road. Somebody flashes me, I move over. I don't get offended.

Just saying not everyone is out to piss people off. Flash of the lights just means, "Excuse me, I gotta go and your holding me up, thanks"

I am usually the fastest car in the pack. I am a civil, I get out of the way at my earliest convenience. I don't block the lane, nor hog it, nor dictate from it. It is not illegal in this glorious state to hog the left lane, I wish it were. People who flash their lights are rude, boorish, get- out-of-my-way-types who try to bully through the anonymity of their vehicle. If it's done -I don't move as a matter of principle. Wisconsin is a regressive backwater full of cretins and not like Chicago (where I have no problems with drivers), Miami, or even Phoenix. I am 41 years old and have had 1 accident and 2 tickets in 24 years of driving all over the place and that doesn't happen by accident (pun ) its time you came here to drive -you would understand. You truly would.
